I did say I would post a few shots of my newly acquired Merkur Futur, now happily living with my Merkur 34C HD, hope you enjoy them.

I have to agree on both counts. The Futur is an especially ugly razor, and the photos are outstandingly good.

I actually quite like the look of the Futur, it's really a modern interpretation of the DE razor, quite original in design (like the Vision & Pils)
But I think it's like art, you either like it or not. (and I have a few paintings like that on my wall!) Wouldn't be surprised if it was in MoMa.

How does the futur shave? I have only just entered the DE shaving world and don't intend to buy another razor for a little while to get used to my Merkur 34c HD, but the adjustable razors do interest me.

Well if you are quite competent with your 34C HD, then I would say if you decided to go and get the Merkur Futur, then start off on the lowest setting number one, to me it does feel totally different to use compared with my 34C HD but I still found it gave me a wonderful shave, in the same amount of passes.

Thank you for the info, I think I will spend time getting used to the Merkur 34c get the technique right, work out what works for me and then when I am ready I will give the futur a go.

What's that saying, "better to learn to walk first before running?" :lol:
