Bluebeard brushes, any opinions please?

After a month of using a wilkinson sword brush and soap, I am now going to start spending a bit more money now I know that DE shaving is working for me.

So, time to start experimenting and spending a bit of money  ....

I tried to buy a Vulfix 404 mixed brush the other night but I cant find anywhere with any stock. I will no doubt get one when the are back in stock.

I am now looking at either the Bluebeards revenge pure badger brush and cream set for £29.99 or a TOB pure badger brush P1020?? and cream set for £25.99.

Whilst I have searched on here for a review of the Bluebeard, there doesn't seem to be anyone using them? Are they a rebranded brush?

Am I missing any other alternatives for upto/circa £20 for a brush?

Also on the shopping list is an allum block, proraso healing gel, a blade sample pack and maybe another razor.

Cheers

John

Not sure on the shaving shack brushes but at that price range you could look at Simpsons berkley, special or commodore x1, the diamond edge Ltd gives 10% discount on simpsons brushes for members here.

/me walks off whistling

The Bluebeards Cream is great and well worth trying, but the brush is really an unknown quantity. I would recommend the 404 brush either from Diamond Edge or, if buying her soaps too, from Nannys.

That's it in a nutshell PC; if you just want the 404 'Bodger', then DE is the best buy. If you're after some of my soap as well, then it should work out cheaper to buy both from me. I can't compete with DE prices on the brushes much as I'ld like to. I just buy them in very small quantities so I can make what seems to be a very good brush for the price available to my customers; thinking especially about people just getting into shaving, rather than starting off with some really awful brush albeit for half the price from the shop in town (probably Wilco's), then this is a tried and tested decent brush.

P.S. As I happen to have an EJ BB (thanks Fido) - and as I am forced from time to time to actually use the brushes available, in the interests of scientific research, personally (and bearing in mind I have delicate lady skin), I think it's a scratchy little b****r. But some people like that! :D

The Bluebeards's Corsair looks like a nice brush, haven't got one myself though.

Here's a link if you're interested:
