Brown soap

Have had some Vitos - almond and the coconut varieties - for a while and broke bits off to use it. Well, been a while since I used it but for a few months has been wrapped in sandwich bags and stored in a tupperware container - like so:

Kept in a cool, dry bathroom cabinet.

But I'm guessing the seal wasn't quite tight enough (soap was packed in a bit) as it's brown and crusty now!

However, just broken a bit off and the crustiness (mmm) is just on the surface. It can be squeezed easily and returns to its normal colour so I reckon it's ok to use.

I'll give one of them a try tonight.

Some coconut oils are dark brown and some are clear in colour. If the maker has used a brown oil, it will discolour the soap, nothing to worry about.

Thanks Martin. Yes, it lathered just as easily and with as great a result as ever. In fact I didn't really notice how moisturised it felt with this Vitos as I always applied (usually one of your) balms straight after.
I like learning about this sort of thing.
