Culmak

many moons ago antdad had a group buy going, i got one.

i think the initial interest was that it's made by one of the top manufacturers, same ingredients as the 3 T's or such like (tony will clarify) but at a cheaper price

works well, nice scent, very subtle

all in all not bad

wait for the others to chip in with their verdicts, i haven't used it in a while though

Is it another Creighton's soap?

Nowt wrong wi that, per se, just wonderin'.

I've got old an Culmak badger brush (smallish but nice knot and butterscotch handle); top bit of kit for six quid from the Bay.

for price comparisons

scent wise i think i get a hint of lavender :?

well i used Culmaks for tonights shave and it proved a VERY worthy performer.

i must say that although it does (to me) have a hint of Lavender in the bowl, it changed during lathering.
now this could have been due to the fact that my Semogue 1800 isn't run in or it could be that this is what happens :?
as Tony says it went a bit citrusy, hint of a throat lozenge
sorry for the pish description

using on a weeks growth it lathered very well, slick and protective, plus i feel i didn't need an a\s (still did though)

i do think this is another hidden gem, by all means try it.

i think Tony split some re-fills, so i got 50grams worth and mushed it into a bowl.
if someone wants to split with you Jim go for it ;)

So its Culmak behind all these soaps too or another soap maker?I just wonder since they all have different formulations and some of them are really different.

The only Culmak soap that I've used was this one:

I bought it from a charity shop, and it came on top op this shaving mug/scuttle

The soap worked really well, even though it was obviously old, but unfortunately, it smelled a bit like an ashtray, and I ended up throwing it out. I kept the scuttle, though.

Hmmm.... Too bad it isn't tallow based, but then again, I'll give a try if I have the chance.
