Being relatively new to DE shaving, I am still at the stage where, although improving, I find it quite easy to turn my neck into a battlefield with red/purple spots and marking. Being away from home recently and without the usual soothing lotions which help the irritation but not the appearance, I rifled through my wife's toilet bag looking for something helpful. She was carrying a tube of Savlon Advance Healing Gel (NOT the antiseptic cream) and I slapped it on. I was amazed to discover that not only did it take the sting away but it also quickly reduced the discoloration. I don't have the ingredient list for this stuff but so far it's the only thing which has done this for me.
It might work for you too if you have a bad shave day!
