Two Band Super Badger Shaving Brush

Stranger things have happened in the New Forest!!! Not sure but it does look like a nice brush for 25£. It doesn't have two 2 bands on it anywhere I can see from the picture but it does have nice coloring and shape.

Good question. The badger bit should be OK. Two Band refers to the light and dark shades of the hair. Other grades of hair usually have light, dark, light - like this:

As for "Super" it's the term used by Simpsons for their very similar two band hair - so I decided to use the same term for the New Forest Two Band brushes.

There are no completely standard descriptions for badger hair as you can see here:

I have been pondering over this for a quite some time. Thank you for the excellent explanation!

Where does the two banded hair come from?

My understanding is that the hair isn't really two banded, but that the silver & black portions are so long that the third band does not protrude as it is hidden by the handle.

Two band is often thicker hair. This can result in making a brush more stubby compared to regular 3 band hair while still having lovely soft tips.

Out of all the 2 band hair I've tried, Simpson hair IMO is the best. Followed by Thater in a very close second. Third slot is a shared one between TGN and M&F. M&F does have a new batch of blonde from what I've read so I do have an itch to try it, it will just have to be in a few months time.
