What a pleasant surprise! Ahem. I have to stop spending. Thank you Etsy.

This is a nice addition to the collection, it's all there including a couple of original blades in the holder including one still wrapped up. Even the card insert into the lid is present.

Razor is nice, needs a good clean and has had a blade in it for years by the look of it.

I'm not sure which model this is and whether I can get a butchered GEM blade in it but even if not it's still nice and quirky.

That is a really nice example. Great catch!

Alas, you're going to want a Feather or NOS Valet blade for that one, but it's worth it.

De-spined GEMs and Feathers are just shy of a millimetre different in depth (the GEM being slightly deeper). As such, really all the VC series are best with a Feather. The VB is adjustable and can cope with a GEM. The VB1 and to an extent, the VC1 will take a de-spined GEM because they slide in. All the others are designed about those other blades.

Butchered GEMs will go into Wilkinson Sword Empires, but you can leave the spine on for older Wilkinson Swords like the Pall Mall, the Roller Shaver, and for Clemak, for example.

Have fun with this one ... I rate it as one of the better from the Valet range, the VC1 being my other favourite. It's like the 'Tech' of the single edge world - mild, safe yet still efficient.

Thanks Paul, I knew you would be all over this! So what model of Valet is this then?

I have already ordered some Feather blades and I will keep this for special occasions. I just love the look and mechanics of it, it's such a blokey thing!
