Where to get pinning materials.

Hey,
I'm just wondering where to get the washers and brass rod for pinning. I understand that I need 1/16 rod and #0 washers but I'm struggling to find a place to buy them online.
Thanks
Ben

Welcome to the forum.

I use 10BA washers like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=10ba+washer&_sacat=0&_from=R40

1/16 brass rod http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-x-K-S-Metal-Solid-Brass-Rod-1-16-1-59mm-KS1626-/350270633505?pt=UK_Crafts_Other_Crafts_EH&hash=item518dc1b621

There's probably cheaper out there but this was just a quick search on eBay.

Hi thanks for your reply, i found them and was thinking that they just seem a bit pricy for a 2 nails and a couple of washers. Iv never done it before so I'm looking for more bulk like 20 washers and a few lengths of brass ro incase i mess it up.

For small washers I tried
http://www.ba-bolts.co.uk/washers.html
size 10ba

Some people like to bolt the razor together to see how well it lines up. That's what I did.
I have also tried making them with sheet brass, a dremel and a file. For the rod any model shop should have it or you could try rivets
http://www.ba-bolts.co.uk/rivets.html
I'm not sure if they are long enough.

Ah never seen bolts suppose its a lot easier to do but don't they stick out a bit?

You only use bolts as a mock set up just to see how the blade sits in the scales, no good pinning the razor only to find your blade won't center and needs major adjustments then you would be in a pickle.

Try the following
www.mkmetals.co.uk for brass and nickel silver rod, and www.microfastners.com for washers. Micro fasteners is a US site, but I have ordered from them and they give a good service.

Hope this helps.

Alan.
