Ganders Goat Soap w/Hop, Sage & Birch
LEA Shaving Stick (Grated)
RazoRock 400 (Orange) w/Omega Professional Boar
Yaqi AC w/KCG Handle
Feather ProGuard (2)
Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla Aftershave

The Feather ProGuard has really smoothed out now on its second shave, delivering a smoothness that I'd normally associate with a Platinum Chrome blade. Very much enjoyed!

First run out with 'Big Orange' which is a RazoRock 400 handle with an Omega Professional boar knot retro-fitted. Yes, I've used Omega knots before so nothing came as a great surprise, but it was certainly very nice to run that knot around in a bright orange handle. Again, very much enjoyed!

Another first, with my first use of Ganders Goat soap. I've been looking for a really simple ingredient soap as a face soap and happened upon this maker - the soap puts me very much in mind of proper Marseille soap. It's just four ingredients at its core: rapeseed oil, goat milk, coconut oil and lye. They make a number of soap types, including one with honey, one with birch tar, another with raspberry seeds (as an exfolient), a floral one, a gardeners one and one with hessian layered into it (again, as an exfolient). I bought a few bars and started to use the one with birch tar first. I'm also using the one with hessian as bath soap.

Lovely stuff! Creamy lather, clean feeling once washed off and a balanced, soft moisturising long-term feel presumably due to the high amounts of oleic acid in the rapeseed, an oil which penetrates deeply into the skin rather than sitting on the top surface like many adjuncts in shaving soap. Curious to do the post-shave moisture care in the pre-shave stage.

Yeah! Very much enjoyed!!!

I like what you have done with the brush there. I have the aluminum RR 400 handle with a Seamogue 2000 knot.. I'm planning to swap knots though, I wasn't sure an Omega Pro would fit.... aren't they 27 or 28mm knots?

Friday's shave

C&S No.88 soap
Simpson Colonel
W.Greaves & Sons 7/8
C&S No.88 ASL & cologne

After four or five attempts I just can't get this soap to work! Even loading plenty of soap on a barely damp brush as soon as I add a drop or two of water to build the lather it goes too thin & vanishes.. My emergency tube of D.R.Harris cream saved the shave. The aftershave and cologne however, are excellent.

Is that soap the old or new formula Mark ? I honestly get great results with it a nice thick creamy and slick lather but I’m using the old formula and also have very soft water ?

Razor: BBS-1
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Doug Korn D7V
Lather: Blue Devil Shaving Co. Lemonwood

It has been way too long, since I had the chance to post a SOTD picture - but a new soap and a new background image is certainly a great excuse to do so again ;)

Big shout-out to Craig from Blue Devil Shaving Co. - wonderful soap, that is dead easy to lather and produces some heavanly lather (see lather pic). The scent is fresh and clear - paired with a Doug Korn brush and the BBS-1 it really can't get much better than this!

I hope you all have a fantastic Friday (y)
Good to see you back :)

Hi, it's the new one I think, plus we have pretty hard water....
I haven’t tried the new formula but I was going to pick some up just to compare..I think It may be the potassium palmate that’s missing from the ingredients on the new formula. It would still be interesting to see how the new one performs with soft water although I don’t hold out much hope going by your experience

21/5/21

Brush - Goodfellas Wild Hog
Soap - Arko
Razor - Ball End Tech
Blade - Gillette 365 (4)
Post - Witch Hazel
AS - Superdrug Forest Fresh

My Wild Hog is 5 to 10 shaves in, it's not broken in but it's an absolute delight to use. It's like the Omega 49, but with a slightly different shape and lower loft. It's quite a bit larger than my other Omega boars and seems to need a bit more soap to get it going,

A really great shave with the 365/BET today, the blade was at it's smoothest and most comfortable today.

Have a good Friday gents.

Never had a GEM corner contact any part of my face.

As a very wise man once told me , "your and my experience is only that, nothing more"
Isn't that what we all do here? We offer our opinions and experiences concerning shaving gear. Isn't that what you do here as well? If we all stop doing that all we have is pictures to share on the forum.

Sure but surely you can present an opinion as such and not with the follow up that those who have trouble should use a cartridge , in a different razor and on a different face maybe it was a problem.

Don't buy the new type, if I can't sort this one you can have it!
