SOTD: Saturday 8 June - Friday 14 June 2024.

A few individuals have given excellent feedback for M&S scents. Whenever I have tried them in store, none have been appealing to me.
I feel exactly the same, but only about the current range.
Quite why they chose to end Woodspice and Harvard and replace them with weak, synthetic and unidentifiable scents is anyone's guess. Every scent I tried (I bought a small sample set) I couldn't relate to the descriptions, even in a blind test. One smelt like bubble bath.
I wish I had stocked up on Harvard and Woodspice. I bought plenty over the years but used most up

I must say I rather like the Spiced Amber. Not the world's long lasting fragrance, but at £15 for 200ml can't really go wrong. Use as a cheap deodorant or a base and brilliant.

Also find their Cedar and Bergmot rather nice for a cheapy

Theme today, Frigid Friday...Holy...(what follows is a bit lengthy and obviously the experience of a menthol wuss).

God damn, what in the hell was that! I've struggled with what I considered to be an extreme cold before (B&M Terror) so this may be a mistake, I bought this for the games out of morbid curiosity. Opened the tub to be greeted by this awful sight.

The initial contact with the face was fine, but the damn thing kept building. I thought I'd managed to get it in my eyes until I realised it was just the fumes. Never before have I had self-hydrating lather, tears were streaming down my face. I couldn't whip that blade around my face fast enough, never mind that I had to go for another two rounds.

I had the splash and balm taunting me as I splashed my face with cold water, well that was a serious mistake! Tentatively reach for the splash, whack it on the face and it's another eye watering moment, that stuff couldn't soak in fast enough...do I bother with the balm, sod it may as well...dear lord why would anyone make this stuff. Now one thing I did cotton onto after using Terror, make sure you wash your hands afterwards, and I mean wash them. I made a grievous error last time that had me wishing I hadn't gone for a pee, not this time my friend! I sit here 10 minutes later and the stuff is still going nuts and my eyes are still watering. I now can't feel my face and I dare not touch it for fear of transfer. What sadist asked for this level of insanity!

It's a miserable day here, so without the warmth there is little benefit and more pain. Perhaps I'll leave it till I head down to SA this Christmas, or perhaps I'll palm it off on the father in-law when I'm down there and piss myself laughing!

Additional challenge - Stacking Day

Quickest photo I've ever taken, this was the gift from the Mrs for my 40th, don't think I've moved so quickly in my life!

For the photo treasure hunt, this one was hobbies, love a bit of ice skating and fit fairly nicely with the daily theme.

Happy Friday all!

Cheers

Marc

If I don't get these past 2 shaves in they will never see the light of day. So a bit of a rushed effort with the theme, 'I love you all'

Last night's SOTN (Head & Face)

Face - Aylsworth Apex SS+, Nacet
Head - Aylsworth Apex AL6063, Rainbow Super Class
Aylsworth/MacDuffs The Northman - soap & splash
Yaqi Caramel synthetic brush
Thayer's Coconut
Nivea Pro Sensitive Ultra Calming Balm

With much of this arriving in yesterday's mail all figured I may as well go as all in as I could with an Aylsworth shave - can't say I'm sorry about it either.

Friday

Feather SS Scotch Wood Folding
Schick Proline
Mühle Sophist STF
TOBS Sandalwood Soap
Bart’s Bonce Balm
TOBS Sandalwood AS

Nice to get the Prolines back into my Shavettes and SE razor. I find the Feather Pro Super blades a bit harsh, especially the first few shaves. The Prolines are smooth from the outset.

The Blutt is for me, without a doubt in my top 3 razors, i just like everything about it, if i was forced to choose only 1 modern DE razor the Blutt would be it.
3 passes for a very comfortable BBS finish.
Enjoy your day all.

Sweet shave. Love the brush and the scent of the Campania. The Rockwell is always reliable but not quite as close as my best razors, still a thoroughly respectable result.

My Tech June-kies 2024 Shave today consisted of...
Prep Hot shower.
Brush Razorock Beehive.
Soap Stirling Glacial Spearmint.
Razor 1950's English Ball end Tech.
Blade Derby Premium.
Aftershave Almafi Brilliante Eau de Parfum.

A relaxing shave today and the brass ball end Tech really did step up and delivered a lovely shave. For something that is over 70 years old it's still as good as the day it left the manufacturer.
I have tried and paid for razors 10, 20 times the price that don't shave as well.
Have a great day everyone, I'm off to goto Aldi to see if they have any Almafi Eau De Parfum left and if they have pick up another bottle or 3.

Aleppo soap - Shave pre wash
Stirling Syn 26mm
MWF
RR Hawk V3- A plate
Schick Proline ( 4 )
Floid Vigoroso A/S Lotion

Getting used to shaving on alternate days, proving to be a good regime for me. May have one tomorrow as off officiating for the day at a Match near Windsor. For once letting someone else drive, as am finding it a chore after nearly 6 hours timekeeping.
