Name a typical old geezer scent

God, that brings back memories, I used to have that at least 25 years ago, when it certainly wasn't cheap, it was around the price of the other big premium brand offerings.

IIRC, it was quite citrussy when first applied, fading to a more floral base over a couple of hours. Please bear in mind this is trying to remember the smell from quarter of a century ago though!

At the time I sort of liked it, but wanted something with a bit more punch so didn't replace it when it ran out.

I bet I'd like it more these days.

To be honest, very little of the modern stuff I've tried is a patch on the powerhouses of the 1980s and earlier.

Everything has been toned down to appeal to modern tastes and to not offend delicate noses.

I don't pussyfoot around.

I wear Kouros, Antaeus, Drakkar Noir, Aramis 900, Boss No. 1, Halston z-14, Van Cleef & Arpels, Zino, Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui, Quorum, Czech & Speake #88, Blenheim Bouquet, Hammam Bouquet, English Fern, Chanel Cuir De Russie (perfume), Caron Pour Un Homme, Troisimme Homme, Yatagan, Annick Goutal Sables and Knize Sec.

The ONLY modern fragrance that has won me over is Histoires de Parfum 1740. They will put me in my coffin wearing that bad boy.

Chanel pour Monsieur.
Good call. Great stuff. I fired through a 100ml bottle of that in about 6 months. Just couldn't stop wearing it, mainly for work.

Citrus at the start settling down to a creamy soft woodsy musk.

Another classic in the same family would be Eau Suavage which stays slightly sharper, more citrussy.

Floris No 89, or, to be even more individualistic, Vinny (not Joe) Floris 127. Not so much 'olde geezer' as in 'past it olde geezer', more 'Cary Grant suave, sophisticated and doesn't have to try to hard' mature presentation.
