What made your day a crap one??

The woman we're buying a house off deciding literally at the last moment that she wasn't including the curtains and blinds as originally agreed but now wants over £1,500 for them. They'd cost less to buy brand new for what they are.

Well, you know what to do then. Call her bluff. I bet she ends up leaving them, and If she takes them it's no great loss, you'd only end up changing them sooner or later anyway.

The same thing happened to us and we refused to pay.
They left them anyway and it wasn't long before we changed them.

Call her bluff.
What are the chances they will match the decor or windows at her new place?

This is exactly what I did. Most of the windows have horizontal slatted blinds which are bespoke to those actual openings, in one case there are 5 blinds around a bay window at the front - the chances that they can be reused elsewhere or have any monetary value realistically outside of that house are nil. It's just extra hassle for her to remove them all, put them in bin bags somewhere, and let them rot in a garage for all eternity if she really goes ahead with this. She's moving in with her partner so it's not like she needs curtains and blinds for another property even.

Her taste is not ours and we would definitely replace the curtains, blinds are somewhat innocuous and we'd retain them indefinitely, but we've got a baby under 1 year old and so will need to put up some kind of window covering so he can sleep the first night there - really didn't want the hassle of DIY on moving day as we're moving to a different county, not round the corner and also have a dog to move.

I have also sent the message back that when all these items are removed, everything needs to be made good including screw holes to maintain the standard of presentation the purchase price was originally agreed on... And she also tried to leave us her old washing machine when she changed the forms so I caught that and ask it be removed.

She's also removing every light fitting she can.

It's gone from a really amicable, easy transaction to her acting like a bit of a greedy twonk.

Anyway, rant over... see if she'll be pigheaded about it now!

Bumped my car today.

No major damage to mine, just a scuffed bumper. The other car didn't get off so lightly.
Fortunately no one was injured.

It will probably be my fault as it was his right of way. Seriously annoyed with myself. Felt bad for the other guy as he only had the car a few weeks.

First my fault accident in nearly 15 years so I haven't done too badly.

Dang, sorry to hear about this. As long as nobody got injured then, as my mum used to say "that's why we have insurance".

More of a shock when it happens than anything I think.

I was ok, the other was pretty shook up.

But nobody got hurt, that's the main thing.

A little follow up on my accident...

I had a bump on the Thursday 25th Oct, my fault, low speed impact. The damage to my car (A4) was a scuffed bumper, no dents so you can imagine the speed I was going.

The point of impact (His car was a BMW 3 Series) was the corner of his rear door where it meets the rear wheel arch. The dent itself was smaller than a dinner plate. His front bumper was scuffed along the bottom where it went over a kerb.

As expected, he claimed for whiplash.

Tuesday 30th Oct, driving home, still in the A4, I was sitting in standstill traffic, when I got bumped from behind. It was only a little nudge, no damage. Swapped details with the other driver but didn't take it any further.

Thurs 1st Nov, got a Ford Fiesta courtesy car and they collected the A4 for repair. Got home to find a letter from the BMW drivers insurance company claiming his car was a write off. Apparently, the doors were mis aligned and not closing or locking, alloy wheel was damaged, rear bumper was damaged and mis aligned amongst other things. Fortunately I had pics of the actual damage which I sent to my insurance company.

Sat 3rd Nov, went shopping and sitting in a line of traffic waiting for the lights to change and got bashed from behind in the Fiesta by some dozy bint who was trying to program her sat AV while driving.

Mon 5th Nov, 9am, got a call from the bodyshop. I thought it was an update on my repair, but turns out there was a break in at the yard. They didn't take my car, but they nicked my car key.
17:00, car key found and they could continue with the repair.

It was an interesting few days...
