Best go to blades

I find that I like many different blades to suit different razors, but, generally speaking, I can get along quite nicely with Personna Lab Prep and Platinum, Nacets, Polsilver, Voskhod and Rapira, followed by Feathers, Gillette Reds, Blues, 7o'c Sharp Edge and Super Platinum. If I want a tame blade for a brutal razor, I go for a Derby Premium or Astra Platinum.

Then I have a drawerful of other blades I really cannot stand, but that's quite another matter.

I just tried some newly acquired blue box Gillette Platinums this morning in a Slim. Early to tell, but I'm pretty impressed. Sharp enough and smooth, smoother than 7 O'Clock yellows I've been using recently. I think you can make a lot of razors work, but these might be my new go to blades.

I am on my third one of the Blue Box ones and I am starting to wonder if just maybe......perhaps Gillette has improved the coating a tad. I am not quite ready to say yea or nay.

Yeah, I'm not fully convinced yet, but this morning was another win for these blades. I tried one on its third use in my user grade Gillette HD500. This thing is a beast of a razor, very easy to make a mistake with and the Gillette Plats took the edge off just enough. Keep me posted on how you get on.

I think now, after more usage, that it's the same great blade. That is after using it with a variety of soaps across the spectrum from top tier to run of the mill. Cool box however. ;)

Although I have a myriad of blades to choose from, I find myself going back to my Astra Greens for my EJDE89, Fatboy, Slim and Black Beauty. A balance between sharpness and smoothness for me.
