6s alternatives.

That's a shame, bc it really is an awesome razor and my everyday weapon of choice. Be sure to give it another go, when the repalcement has arrived ;)

Yeah a great shame indeed. I was cautious about spending so much on a razor, I'm not a big shaving euthusast like most here, just wanted something good quality and performance. Read great things about it and how it should pretty much last a lifetime so thought be money well spent in the long term.

Well looks like the replacement top cap has incurred a custom fee

I would contact Rockwell and ask them to pay this to you. It is their fault you incurred the cost.

If you send the original item back I believe you can recover the import tax you paid though I am not sure about the "handling" fee.

Or Post Office have charged VAT in error. Can happen

I would wait for the package and see what the declared value (plus postage) is

This is unacceptable and turning into an expensive purchase for you through no fault of your own.

Here is what I would do:

1. Do not pay the customs charge. Royal Mail will return the package to the sender as unpaid after 21 days.
2. In the mean-time, contact Rockwell and tell them that you are not paying the customs charges on a replacement part which should come to you at no extra cost (in fact, should not have been faulty in the first place), and that it will be returned to them after the 21 days automatically.
3. Also inform Rockwell due to this experience you wish to return the razor in full and be refunded as is your right, and is also within the terms and conditions of sale on their very own website.

They've let you down on this one - you gave them a chance to make it right, and they couldn't get that right either. You've been reasonable, and they're costing you more money to fix their issues and have your money while you have a razor you can't use. It's not right.

Returns are not free unless in the US. I used Rockwells chat support and the guy said the customs fee would be refunded. Just paid it, £11.10.

So much hassle overall, but fair do to them they have done everything they can to make it right for you. I hope you can find some zen inside to give the razor a fair trial when you everything together.

Treated myself to a 6s after reading how great it is. Only place in stock was direct from the US and had pay a customs fee.
Just unpacked my new toy and put a blade on, a Personna Platinum. Was very hard to put on and even hard to take off! Tried a Gullette Silver Blue, same thing so I've emailed Rockwell to arrange it's return.

So what would you guys suggest instead? Currently using a Edwin Jagger de89 but find it a bit mild.
Is the Merkur 34c as mild? I don't want a aggresive shave, but something that will deal with the stubborn stubble along my jawline better.

I do like something that's well made and will last a while.
For me the Merkur34c is mild but a good razor I am looking for something more aggressive and been looking at the Rockwell6c but heard there were problems with them been out of stock.

As a 6C owner, usually R4, I'm wondering what are the 'alternatives' mentioned in the thread title. If you can splash the cash and in some cases join a waiting list, they seem to be:
- Timeless .95
- Charcoal Goods Level 2+3
- Wolfman WR1
- Paradigm Ti or 17/4
- Blackland Blackbird

These are the top recommendations as far as I can see. Just below them and probably on the same level as 6S are
- Game Changer .84
- ATT
- Karve
etc...
