Any blades you won't buy again?

Not really had any terrible blades (yet), but there's a few I'm not keen or didn't live up to expectations:

Big Ben - Sharp, but a bit scratchy
Bolzano Superinox - OK, but tugged a little
Derby - Meh, just too mild for me
Personna med preps - Super smooth, but no real 'bite'. Lasted well, and did give a good shave though

Everything else I've tried so far has been good, and I've still got a stash of untried tucks to try, including some very cheap Chinese and Indian ones - I'm sure there will be some horrors among them :)

I found the Bolzano to improve after the first shave as felt rough straight from the packet as if needing corking to refine the edge a little

_DSC7838.jpg I need a better idea for stashing my small but growing blade collection maybe a general box for blades to be tested and one for the deemed bad and one for the good plus a sheet in Excel.

I've steered clear of most of the agreed poor quality blades thanks to this site. But I must say the worst blades I bought(and bloody dear too), were Timors. Absolutely terrible, would have got a better shave with the lid off an old Party7(Red Barrel of course)!

Shaved with the Merkur blade that came with my razor and it felt a bit rough, not fair really to judge a blade based on one try of one blade, so anyone else having tried the Merkur?

Good timing. I just finished a 4-shave cycle with a Treet Platinum Super Stainless blade.

First couple of shaves were pretty good, I thought I was going to have to revise my review, but it ripped me to shreds on the last two. I've got one blade left in the pack, not looking forward to using it and won't be buying more.

Others I didn't get on with:

Super-Max Super Platinum
Shark - both types I tried were okay, but no more
Polsilver Super Iridium
Wilkinson Sword Classic

Having been through quite a few blades I think I've found my preferred choices and will simply re-stock with those once I've got through the rest.

Derby (rough and pull like a train)
Supermax (very blunt)
Israeli Personnas (I've had a better shave with a bus ticket) Weirdly the Personna Lab blues and med preps are excellent.
An honourable mention to Treet..not a bad blade just too many duds (I once had a few Treet blades with no shaving edge on one side) so poor Q.C.
I think Dorcos are a bit rubbish and also not a fan of Merkur blades.

I quite like Egyptian blades personally...Asco and Big Bens have been quite good.
Never used a bad Russian blade.. Rubies, Voskhod, Nacet, Astras, Sputnik, Rapiras, Ladas, Perma-Sharp, Silver Blue, Gillette Platinums...all ХОРОШО !

Oh I do go on don't I

Is it possible that a lot of our issues with blades is to do with technique, skin, preparation and the razor?
I used a Treet today, for the first time after twelve months of de shaving, it felt pretty good.
Also I'd recommend very highly the spread sheet at the de blade forum created by Not the Stig, about his experiences with many different blades.
My worst blade has to be the feather, but I'm not giving up on it just yet because my technique has improved.

Greetings
I tend to dislike ultra sharp blades especially DE Feathers, it isn't that they do not give a close shave IMHO they most certainly do, but no matter how carefully and gently I shave they leave me with a sore face that takes all morning to go away.

Regards
Dick.

I tend to agree, I tried some Derbys recently and they weren't that bad. But those Treet Platinums have ripped me up every time I have used them. Nowt truer said than YMMV with this exercise.
