Anyone else miss this new Wilkinson Sword Retro Classic?

I never really thought of the Segal as a TTO, but you're right, it is!
Gillette sure thought it was a TTO and sued them to take it off the shelves so as not to compete with the new Aristocrat, using an old patent Gillettet acquired after the Segal's release. Rather cynical move as the acquired patent had nothing to do with either razor.

Got one a while ago in Tesco. It's ok, not worthy enough of praise to be honest.

Received my earlier in the week and have had a couple of shaves with it. I tend to agree with your statement.

It's alright. Reasonably well made, feels solid in the hand, quite long, good weight. It's a little on the aggressive side, but not too much. A definite step up from my DE89 though.

As speculated, it's unlikely they made this themselves, just rebranded someone else's stuff. I assumed it was a Parker, as they seem to be one of the few who still make TTOs. Got no evidence of that though and it doesn't match their current models, but it's not a million miles away either.

Who knows, if they get enough sales maybe they'll take the DE sector a bit more seriously.

Hi, why is it a step up from the DE89? Do you mean in terms of aggressiveness?

It's a Chinese Weishi razor with the Wilkinson logo etched on the barn doors. Order enough of them and the manufacturer will etch whatever you want on the razor for free.

But it's good that Wilkinson is noticing the DE razor market resurgence. It's a bit like vinyl comeback where this would be a Sony $50 re-branded Chinese USB turntable.

Fatip Testina Gentile would be my recommendation for a smooth but more efficient shaver than your EJ DE89.

Just started using a Fatip SE with Gentile plate this week, having originally started with the DE89 and most recently used a Rockwell 6S with R4 plate. More efficient yes, but really need to get the angle right, otherwise I feel like I'm scraping my whole face and end up with a bunch of cuts. Went with a shallower angle today and didn't nick myself, but still felt like I was playing with fire!

You'll get the hang of it. I use a steeper angle with the open comb Fatip when I use it daily.

I remember reading reviews of the Gentile when it first came out and many stated that it was not as "gentle" as they had been lead to believe. OC razors usually have more blade exposure than safety bar razors. Shavers either love 'em or hate 'em. I am in the latter group.

The Gentile is a safety bar razor, but the way the blade is clamped - at least on mine as there are some alignment issues - is that the blade extends a bit past the plane of head/SB, so the blade exposure was what was biting me. Last 3 shaves have been better, just a few minor nicks, but am being really careful.

I haven't dared use the OC head yet
