Best way to clean shaving brushes?

I give mine a soak in Borax solution, maybe once or twice a year. Seems to do the job.

I rinse until clear water is the result each and every time I use my brushes. Wipe on towel afterwards & I've Never had a problem. No residue, and no falling apart either! And, I've been at this shaving brush thing for a very, very long time!

Fortunately for me i have very cheap tastes in brushes, i only have 2 and the combined cost of them was £40, should they only last a few years i'll still think that i'd had my moneys worth and just replace them. Frankly i have more pressing jobs on my list than to use precious time cleaning shaving brushes

I use only one brush, so with me it's rinse under a tap after use and shampoo every couple of weeks

I once heard it said - and I think it's wise advice - never do anything to your brush that you wouldn't do to your own hair.

Mild dish soap and warm water is all I use on mine.

its got Borax in it, it's same as the Zingari brush cleaning soap.

Seriously, I have had my badger brush for over 5 years, it is still as soft as ever and just smells of whatever soap I have used last.
It never occurred to me that it would need a wash, not going to start now

cleaning removes soap scum from base of knot & oils from your skin.

Same here ... I'm still very happy with my brush.

If brush is rinsed well after shave I think it is kept clean but I am not mr 100% in this respect so occasionally wash my brushes using hair shampoo.

In hard water, it starts to develop a white scale near the knot base. A soak in Borax solution (or alternative) or white vinegar worked well for me when I was in London.

That's probably why my brush is still ok, soft scottish water.
