Body Shop Macca Root Cream

Have heard s few good things about this cream. Anyone used it and care to comment ?
To cut a long story short: It smells disgusting but performs very good. This is the shortest I can describe it from my point of view/experience. Having said that, there are lots of other creams with great performance so I won't be buying this cream anymore or even finish it. The main thing about this cream is not the performance, it can be purchased from a high street shop unlike majority of wet shaving gear, so when you buy this cream, yes it performs good and also you don't worry about paying online, wait to receive by post, if you miss than go to sorting office etc..

I have tried it and it was definitely slick , didn't mind the smell at first but then seemed to develop a dislike, also found it left behind a bit of a residue. In my opinion something like proraso is a better cream in this bracket and much cheaper.

Consensus on performance, obviously differing views on scent.

For mine, the scent is fresh, bright, lifting, and reminiscent of a dawn walk through a rain forest. As it happens, I've never done a dawn walk through a rain forest, so that part is complete bollocks, but you get the drift.

There's been some debate about the "new" formula. From what I can see, there's almost no difference. The only change seems to be from an aloe gel to a powder, and some say the powder allows for greater concentration of aloe to be loaded into the cream, hence this is why in the new formula, aloe is down the list of ingredients (less needed to get the same effect).

Each to his/her own.
Personally I love the smell. I bought another pot recently in the Jan sales with a brush.
It lathers lovely, in fact I can't wait till my next shave, coz guess what's coming out of the cupboard into my shaving bowl?

Worth a go I'd say.

I was put onto this Body Shop soap by an Aussie on another forum I inhabit.
I like the scent, and so does the Misssus...which brings me to ask "Does the formulation differ depending on what country you live in"?
I'm in New Zealand. Is our Maca Root & Aloe Vera stuff different to yours, or is it made in a factory 'somewhere' and sent all around the world?
I like the shave it gives. Plenty of slide and glide, and suits my razors...Picollo, Timeless OC .95, NEW SC, and Mamba (I mention that because some soaps don't seem to perform well with some razors).

I use this fairly regularly. As noted, performance is great. The scent I don't mind, but soap scent is pretty fleeting given what goes on my face post shave, so it's no a big deal to me. Proraso green is another one I like despite disliking the scent.

It's nice and slick but I would recommend a sniff of it first. I have a tub of it and take a notion every couple of weeks and it never disappoints.

OK.... So I personally love this cream...
And because a lot don't it got me thinking why the diversity?
So I did a little research. Here's what response I got from Body shop live chat.
Q. Why is there a difference in product?
Answer.
"THE Maca Root range has been discontinued. However, we have introduced new products for Men. So the Maca Root and Aloe is a different product with different formulation."
"The Maca Root was discontinued last year."

Q. Is the shaving cream made in one location and then shipped globally? Or is it made in different countries/continents and shipped locally?
Answer.
"we unfortunately have manufactures all over world so the exact location would have to be checked on each packaging."

Q. Could locally sourced products effect the outcome/scent of the product?
Answer.
"There should be no difference in any way as the products are thoroughly tested. That is only personal preference...... It can unfortunately happen that someone just does not like certain scent."

Finally...
Q. Why did the body shop change the shaving brushes from light brown with light bristles to darker brown with dark bristles?
Answer.
" That was just marketing decision, both should work same."

So there you have it.
Marmite or bodyshop shaving cream.
You either hate it or love it.

I'm a "love it" guy!
