Although EJ make a great deal about being razor manufactures, their razors are - as Exile correctly says - made in Solingen, Germany, by Dovo and simply rebranded. After the "razor maker" build-up they then go on to say that Dovo make them (on the EJ website).

They are as good as any new Dovo razor - which means that they are very good and can hold their own (despite a plethora of cases of warped brand new Dovos some time ago) with any other current manufacturers products, but they will not be shave-ready when bought, unless you are extremely lucky. Usually you have to hone them yourself prior to the first shave, or add the cost of sending one out for honing by a third-party into the equation.

As for me - and it's only my personal opinion - I'd take a quality vintage razor over a new razor, and that includes a quality vintage Dovo over a new Dovo.

Regards,
Neil
