Good evening

I've been a lurker for a while and thought its about time I registered.

52, living in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. I've never been happy with any forms of shaving until I tried a DE just over a year ago. Within a week, the rash had gone and I was enjoying my shave every day, rather than every few days of scraping with an expensive cartridge that stings like hell.

Over the past year, I've settled on a DE89 with Feather blades and (mainly) OSP soaps, although I'm about to try a shavette!

Welcome.
Good choice on razor and blade, I loved this combo when I started.
A shavette is a brave move - it's less forgiving than a traditional straight shaver, but much cheaper and can give a good shave.
May I suggest using a more forgiving blade for the shavette than a feather?
I find astras and sputniks nicer in a shavette.

Well I've just tried the shavette for the first time. I stuck with a feather blade for comparison purposes with OSP Barbershop.

For a first go, I'm impressed. One big nick and a couple of red dots. Below the chin is a bit sore, but no worse than a cartridge. I would happily walk into a job interview after that shave.

I've got some 7 O'Clock and some Willkinson blades to try.
