Nespresso machine

Hi all.

Looking into buying a nespresso machine, as I do love a good espresso, and I was wondering if anyone else out there with a nespresso machine had any recommendations as to which brand or machine to buy?

Thanks

We had several, from medium to higher priced, none of them survived more then one year. But then we also had several Jura's and those didn't last much longer.

That doesnt sound good. Might stick with my trusty Bialetti moka pot...still going strong after 4 years and only needed the seal changed twice

We are on our second Nespresso machine having given our first to our son. Both have been quite robust and have operated for several years without a problem. The espresso they make is passable, but not top tier. On the other hand they are simple to use and fast.

I recently replaced a Bialetti Moka Express that lasted me 15 years with... another Bialetti! It probably would have lasted at least another 5 years, but I was stuck what to ask for Christmas. They really are hard to beat for value, quality and consistency, and you're not restricted by proprietary coffee pods.

My new one just arrived last week. It's just the basic one from their website but on the subscription deal. £18 a month for a year and you get that amount credited to buy pods with, a no brainier for quick and half decent espresso. I use an Aeropress otherwise

I purchased one of the cheaper Magimix over two years ago. It's been brilliant for me. It's been used daily once or twice and still working well.

Don't purchase compatible pods made of plastic though. None of them work properly. We don't live near a Nespresso Boutique (as they like to call them ). So we buy L'Or which work the same as the originals and are often on offer making them cheaper than the originals. We do buy them when we are near a Boutique though.

We had a free milk frother which doesn't get used Ona daily basis, but it's there. We also bought 150 capsules and got a pair of free Nespresso cups.

Would I buy another ? Yeah, I will be straight out when this one packs in.

I wouldn't bother with a nespresso machine splash out on a proper bean to cup coffee machine I've had a
Saeco Odea for over ten year's great coffee using fresh ground beans much cheaper to run than pods works out 10p a cup at the most.

Saeco are made by gaggia who are the King's of coffee machine's and can by saeco machines of Amazon for not much more than a decent pod machine

I'm a Nespresso fan. The coffee is good and it's an ethical business if you're into that sort of thing. And after sales support is pretty good from them. I'm on my 3rd machine. The first broke after 2 years but it was my fault as I never descaled it and we live in a hard water area. I learned my lesson there. I gave away my 2nd machine after a year to my daughter and bought a Vertuo (big capsules) after getting sucked in to the sales hype but it was a mistake as in practice I don't use any of the big coffee sizes. Don't think they're worth it. I just like the espresso and double espresso sizes and make up an Americano with hot water. The quality is good but I'd revert back to the smaller machines if I needed to buy again.

I also have an Aeropress and a Moka pot but they stay on the shelf. No question that the coffee is better brewed in those but the convenience of the Nespresso is a huge benefit for me.

Just make sure you descale them! [emoji12]

Indeed they are so convenient, I make up one while I am getting ready and take it into work. It's also clean and there's no mess to clear up. Nespresso are also good at recycling, I've an almost full bag in the garage.

Just thinking to get a new one (gave away the old one when I moved to my ex girlfriend house)! Anyway, suggest the capsules from colona & small!

We bought a Nespresso Citiz & Milk some months ago.
Very easy to use, and to clean.
Don't get any model with the little milk tank gadget. It will drive you nutty with the stripping/cleaning after each use.
The Citiz & Milk has the wee frother gadget which sits on an extension to the machines base. Easy to use and clean. So simple.
Put through a few hundred capsules already.
We also use some compatible capsules for hot chocolate (yummy), and other flavours such as mint chocolate.
Haven't used any other coffee making system (including 'Instant') since.
Go on...you know you really need one.

Im kind of tempted to get one now. Nothing wrong with the moka pot but a nespresso machine has a higher pressure. I think I need to try a coffee from one before buying one.
A Barista espresso machine is also an option

I have both a nespresso and a moka pot. However, I rarely use the nespresso these days (although the milk froth thing gets used by my wife).

Apart from the fact I like having freshly ground coffee from whole beans in my moka, which I think has a particular coffee experience that is better than a nespresso, I am influenced by the environmental issues around the pods. Sure, they can be recycled, but that's not nearly as effective as avoiding them all together. But I do not judge!

I am not surprised to see a lot of moka pot fans here. It is to coffee what DE razors are to shaving. In both cases, I like the ritual and quality that is associated with them.

BTW, if you aren't already tossing your used moka pot coffee into your garden, then do so. I gather it enriches the soils nitrogen levels or something like that.
