New to DE shaving but benefits starting to come through. ...

Having taken some advice from you guys I thought I'd share a little bit of my experiences of being a new DE wet shaver.

It was all a bit of a palaver to start with.

I purchased a random razor from eBay and a load of different blades.

With advice and some trial and error I seem to have landed on my feet.

My set up is :

Misc razor from eBay
Astra Superior Stainless blades
Palmolive shave cream
Wilkinson Sword random brush bought on the high street
Nivea post shave balm
Dove hydrate moisturiser

After practicing my lathering technique and with helpful advice and youtube videos I seem to be getting the Palmolive into a beautiful creamy lather.

Shaving has got easier and closer too.

I've also used far less pressure and whilst it's taking longer (I do two passes), the results are not only lovely and close but my skin looks so much better.

I've always used balm and moisturiser afterwards but now I'm putting them onto receptive skin rather than irritated skin.

I have received a couple of comments from people saying how my face looks fresher and clearer.

So I wanted to say thank you to those that gave me some advice and to any other newbies out there, stick with it. The lathering is important to get the right consistency but boy is it worth it.

And if you're lucky like me, your skin will glow too !!!

You are doing even better than you think if you are getting good lather out of one of those Wilkinson Sword brushes. They are pretty horrible clipped poor quality bristle.

At some point treat yourself to a small Omega - some of them are actually cheaper than the WS and some Proraso cream.

That's just a long winded way of saying congratulations by the way.

I agree. I found my WS £3.50 supermarket brush recently during a clearout. The bristles were stiff and felt horrible, I threw it out as there are far better brushes out there for reasonable prices
