'Not exactly useful information, but fairly interesting nevertheless' #3: Why a ship's bridge is called a 'bridge'

A Bizarre thing on the Subject of a Ships Bridge..In Some Royal Navy Camps Ya Have to Salute Whilst Going into the Guardroom..The Royal Navy Regarded it as a DRY Ships Bridge..Go Figure..I Was a Royal Marine Commando..Their Tradition Pissed Me Off..

So..I Refused to Salute Crossing their So Called Dry Ships Bridge & Always Got a Bollocking for it from the Navy Boys..I Loved to Noise Em Up..:ROFLMAO:

Billy

You know, it's been said that the only reason they invented Marines was because Navy sailors got lonely at sea and needed someone to dance with.

:p :ROFLMAO:;)

Just to add a little more to this thread here is a photo of one the ACL boats from an uncomfortable end

A first time bow end tow for my Chief Officer. Unfortunately he wasn't quite ready for it and I had to step in. But at least he is willing to have another go. I suppose going astern ahead of a ship bearing down on you is not quite normal. He's a good bloke and we'll get there.
