I wonder if photography was more enjoyable before the digital age and cameras treasured more? My first camera cost equivalent of 35p and took pics 1 inch square. But what joy getting them developed. Then an instamatic .Graduated in the 60,s to SLR, Russian Zenith. No automatics then so had to learn about f stops etc, but a good way to learn how to take good pics. No big choice of cameras, but fun comparing the different brands, Nikon, Minolta etc. And what can beat seeing slides projected on a screen? Used To love the Photographic Year Books which I think stopped in the 70,s, but they were great inspiration.

For me the most fun, especially when I started up, was waiting for the photos to come back from the lab and ripping open the package to see if I'd got 24 prints out of my 24 exposure film. It was only when I got a 100% hit rate on a regular basis that I considered myself a 'real' photographer
