Shavette as a treat?

I don't think I would ever switch from DE shaving to straight. But I'm considering a shavette, just for the experience.
Does anyone use DE most of the time and shavette on occasion and if so how do you choose the occasion?

I sometimes use a shavette (once a month or so)
The most important thing to consider is that it will take a lot longer to shave with while you're learning to use one.
It's not something you'll be able to master/be competent in using as easily as with your DE.
Oh, . . . . . . And expect some blood loss !

I was looking for a challenge to keep my shaves interesting so good bye safety razor, hello straight razor and shavette, and as the learning curve is pretty steep I believe going all in not just poking around is the way to really enjoy the experience.

As a penance, maybe ...

Nah! If you're interested in the straight edge experience without going to full straight razor, do look into the Feather Artist Club or vintage Weck style razors. The latter is my preference.

Occasion? Sunday? Friday night? 1st of the month, birthday ... your choice. Weekend is a good choice, potentially less hurried, less utilitarian.

Have fun!

I only use a shavette (Dovo)with the red sleeve, although i have 3 straights,i preffere the shavette. It's less faffing around i find, by just popping a new blade in the holder, as opposed to all that stropping and honing.Three pass's ‘one with, one against the grain, followed by one on each side towards the ear, very close shave.
Treat the shavette with respect and you can't go wrong.
