SOTD Pictures

Hi All,
I do love seeing all your SOTD pictures (even more so the ones with the BBA Products!) But I'm keen to see what sort of set up you use!
If I was to take a picture of you taking your picture, what would I see?!

Has anyone thought about doing a SOTD video?! You know a short 20 second clip where your SOTD is set up on one of them rotating product displays?!

I've just put one on my wishlist, does anyone have a recommendation for one? Also looking for a small mobile light box!

Something like this perhaps?

I've actually considered making a GIF or similar to embed as a picture for shave of the day... Not got round to it though! I tend to go for iPhone 7 camera app and post-processing with Snapseed, Over and/or Prisma apps. I've been tempted to use Musecam app as it allows RAW pictures to be taken on an iPhone.

Alternatively, I've previously used my camera (Pentax K-S2) with the stock 18-50mm lens. All photos I've taken have been handheld. :) The 360° setup looks great though! Grand idea!

My work flow / process is to use my my Samsung Compact camera hand held for ease of use and in Smart mode with the flash turned off and any extra light is courtesy of a LED Lenser torch also hand held at arms length but at about 45 degrees to the items being photographed. Images are processed in FastStone Image Viewer to crop and basic colour adjustment (excellent software and free to download/use), tone mapped with Photomatix Pro and a filter added with Smart Photo Editor Studio.

To upload to the forum, these days I'm using Postimage.org

Hope that helps.

The attached images give you an idea of the results

Final image / Image from camera and then the image step by during processing.

When I'm not feeling lazy, I use this set up. I have a foamex PVC boards because they are easier to keep clea-n than a cloth background.

I did buy a photography background but didn't read the size so have a 3mx1.5m white and black background I need to cut to size or fold quite a bit to use....

I foud this to be a very useful video, minus the photoshop which goes over my head. I just use snapseed on my phone.

Very good video but I have not got that kind of kit so I just chuck it on the bed near the window so I have some light and use an iPad mini to take the photograph , I can crop, add more light and saturate colour a little but that's about it, hence my mediocre images but everyone gets the idea about what in using while I get on with the more enjoyable side of it, shaving ! It's a useful bit of kit, only £15 from eBay when I got it for photographing coins. Ended up useful for SoTD photos. Also useful for images when selling online.

I think the bloke in the video goes over board. 99% of the time I just use my two PVC boards and line up everything and add a filter before posting.

I try to close up to hide the blemishes, I do struggle with lighting but don't faff too much with it, just point and snap the pics...

This is identical and same size as mine, it all folds up nicely into a carrying bag. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Phot-R-Ph...779631&hash=item3f66041922:g:AYoAAOSw7ChZelM9

I bought cheap PVC board to use instead of the cloths because there's no creases and it is easy to wipe clean, I had noticed before that the cloths stain easily especially the dark colours from the soaps if theres any dusty bits of dried lather
