The SuperMax creams are very good budget offerings. The Ultimate seems to be harder to find now. I use them as a base to add my own Essential Oils/FragrancesWednesday 20 Feb.
Following up on FrankieG's more minimalist approach, and missing out Proraso pre/post cream and A/S today:
Super-Max Ultimate 3 Classic cream
Frank Shaving Silvertip Badger
Merkur Progress 3/3/1+ paired with Gillette 7 o'clock Sharp Edge - Yellow (2)
The 1250 .....one of my favourite Semoques. I don't give it as much love as I should. Perhaps tomorrow.......20 February
Meißner Tremonia Dark LimesA bit too much water in the lather and a little bit too much pressure led to a couple of weepers on the chin this morning. Otherwise a smooth shave.
Semogue 1250 boar
Merkur Progress 500 (2)
Personna Super med prep

I have been waiting to see the results of your maiden voyage with the Claymore.....Pleased it went so well!Wednesday 20th February 2019 PM
Pre-shave:- Warm water rinse / Proraso Red pre shave cream
Brush:- Stirling Finest Badger
Soap/Cream:- Alvarez Gomez Barberia cream
Razor/Blade:- Claymore V1 / Feather Professional Injector (1)
Post-shave:- Thayers Cucumber / Floid Vigoroso aftershave
BOOM.....the Claymore has landed!
Thanks @globalm for selling it.
The weight of this razor is impressive. I was provided Feather blades in the box and thought I’d give these a try with ES stating the razor was designed specifically for this blade.
Wanting it to be a good 1st shave with this razor I chose Alvarez Gomez Barberia cream, knowing it’s a good performer.
Starting on my 1st pass I made sure no pressure was used and let the weight of the razor do the work. The blade feel was almost nonexistent with me initially thinking I was using the wrong angle but the audio feedback was loud and clear. What a noise!
I continued with my 2nd and 3rd pass with a clean and smooth BBS result. I was probably expecting too much as I was hoping that I’d be BBS after 2 passes after reading lots of reviews on the Claymore. It was a DFS but I could see and feel that my skin could easily take another pass to get that extra bit smoother, so I went for it and it performed flawlessly.
The Claymore is definitely a razor with attitude. For my 1st use with it I’m over the moon and I know I’ve still got a steep learning curve to perfect my technique with it. My RazoRock Hawk V2 is far easier to use straight out the wrapper but the Claymore is one of the first times I can say without a doubt a razor is more efficient. The Feather blade was a joy to use and I’m looking forward to trying a Schick Proline in the future.
A great start and great recommendation by you guys! Thanks for all the help.
Here’s to great shaves in the future!
