SOTD : Saturday 20th October - Friday 26th October 2018.

I've noted respected posters using Pears soap so I thought I'd give it a go. Takes me back to bath night when I was nowt but a young lad.

This has made me curious also. I haven't touched a bar of soap for over 20 years. Since liquid soap came out, bar soap always seems somewhat pointless to me. I just remember buttermilk type soap bars looking really messy in their trays, the liquid stuff seems so much neater and easier, apart from the bloody annoying last centimetre at the bottom that the pump refuses to collect.

This glycerin Pears stuff sounds good though and I may look out for some to use pre-shave. Does it really offer anything that a good face wash tube doesn't though?

Well you don't pay a lot of money for the major constituent in the bottle..........water!

I've only used it once so it's probably a bit early to say for sure. However, I'd have to say from the first experience that it does seem to add a little slickness I don't get from face wash. No idea how or why and there might have been other factors at play but I usually need to use a pre-shave like Proraso or an oil to avoid significant irritation but managed fine without tonight. Looks promising but jury's still out.

Ok, sorry if it's going over old ground, but what's with the bones?

Love that slate scuttle btw.

The dice keep track of how many shaves I have on the current blade. Today's count is 8, added to 12 previously, making this the 20th (and last) shave on this Wilkinson blade. I really like the scuttle too. I have tried various scuttles, but I ended up selling all but this one.

Yes it does. It offers the opportunity to keep having to pick it up off the floor or the shower base.

Second go with the Pils and as suspected, it is a very good razor.
This time I managed to maintain the correct angle on the neck and the result was, stubble removed very efficiently and with zero irritation.
I still have reservations about the handle but it's only two shaves in
Happy Shaving one and all.

Interesting shave this morning with a sample of a Swedish hard cream/soft soap. I had a little difficulty loading the brush properly from the small tub, so instead hand lathered a knob of the cream. This produced a rich, plentiful lather sufficient for 3-4 passes. The lather itself conditioned the skin very nicely, but lacked a little of the slickness of the best soaps. Smooth, close two pass shave followed, and the skin felt great.
