Sunday 23rd Sept
My 1st shave using the Ever Ready Natural Angle SE ( a nice PIF from Dansco )

Prep: Hot Shower then some EAD pre shave
Soap: P&B Citra Royale ( i didn't have to worry about this soap being hard everything worked out perfectly)
Brush: Yaqi 28mm
Bowl: Timeless
Razor: Ever Ready Natural Angle
Blade: GEM Stainless (1)
Post: Cold rinse
AS: Duro Lemon
ASB: L'Oreal Hydra

One of the best shaves i have had thanks to Dansco PIF
You're welcome Ian!! Glad you like it.

SOTD 25/09

Pre Shave: Face wash with Nesti Dante bar soap
Soap: Oakcake Soap Lavender Melt
Brush: Semogue 830 Excelsior Boar Brush
Razor: RazoRock Mamba
Blade: Blade: Personna Med Prep (1)

First use with this soap and the soap doesn't disappoint; the post shave feel from the soap is excellent - post shave shave consisted of a face wash with the soap remnants from the brush and cold water, no balm or moisturiser and it wasn't needed.

I decided last night to miss out shaving and leave it until tonight. However, woke this morning and decided I wanted to try a shave first thing before going to work. This is the 1st time I've done this since starting DE shaving as I enjoy taking my time and relaxing in the evening.

After my usual morning shower I applied the Proraso Red pre shave cream followed by a good lathering with the matching shave soap. Simples.

Onto the shave and wanting to save time I stuck with my new and trusted Fatboy which is still armed with the 7 O'clock yellow blade (now on its 4th outing).

A straightforward shave, even if a little rushed. 3 passes were over in no time and nothing to report.

A quick rinse, splash of Thayers and Barts Balm and I was off!

It took me no more that 15 minutes! Result.

Have a great day folks. [emoji1303]

Tuesday 25th September

Meissner TremonIa Exotic Elimi
YaqI Chianti 24mm Synthetic
Ikon 102 /Windrose Handle
Astra SP (2)
Proraso Green ASL

First run out with the Ikon slant. It's to be respected and quite scary looking.
The head is quite heavy and the Windrose handle gives it extra heft, so I tried my best to not apply any pressure.
I'm pleased to report my first shave with this razor passed without mishap, not even a weeper.
I'll try it with a different blade next time. I'm expecting some Silver Blues to arrive very soon (never used them before).
Finishing with Proraso Green Aftershave - the slightest tingle assured me that I didn't do half bad with this scary looking slant razor.

What's the difference between the V1 and V2 Mike?
One shave in and I like the V2.
Cheers,
Kevin.
Sorry for jumping in here Kevin

I am not sure that Claymore is actually a V2 in the terminology used by ES. I believe the original release had a few issues which required some modification. The new razor was a 2nd version of the V1. The top cap on both is curved. My Claymore was sold as a V2. as you can see from one of my SOTD photos....the top cap is much more angular. I have never seen a V3 and am highly unlikely to as the price has gone through the roof in comparison to the previous models

Hi Ian,
No we have not, we're scheduled to visit my son and wife who was working there.Unfortunately they have had to return to UK, but we decided to go anyway.
Mike

I hope you enjoy it - it is a place apart - unique - in my experience - I have been in some interesting places in my life - but there is nothing like it. It is quite 'in your face' - you need to get involved - not for shrinking violets - the Grand Bazaar - the Hagia Sophia - the Blue mosque - the Topkapi Palace - all worth seeing - the food - and indeed - their food culture - is glorious. I don't think we have eaten better anywhere in our travels - ever. Go for a meal in one of the seafood restaurants underneath the Galata bridge - for serious eating - get the funicular - built by European merchants - because they couldn't be arsed walking up the hill - you will understand when you see it - up to Istikilal Avenue - Beyloglu district - the European quarter traditionally - Pera. About half way along the street - on your left - is the entrance to - the 'Flower Passage' - Cicek Pasaji - a warren of some of the finest eating places we have ever been to. Dive in - it is great - Arko? - if you want to pick some up - you won't have a problem - trust me - a wet shave is a great experience there - part grooming - part theater - I always get my head shaved at the same time. Chilled lemon cologne sprayed onto your freshly shaved napper - nice. Worth doing - in my experience. My best advice about Istanbul? - don't drink green raki - when it kicks in - you will start to behave like the central character in some C.19th Irish agricultural novel - the connection between your body and brain becomes severed - normal raki - is fine - just remember that you put the ice in last - after the water - it is considered very uncouth to do otherwise. Have a good time - it is a glorious city in my experience - as I said - a world apart - Istanbulis don't have their sorrows to seek currently - my partner - won't agree to go there at the moment - due to the politics - but `I think the city will survive the current madness - the lurch towards totalitarianism - it has been there longer than Erdogan is going to live - it will persist. Yours - I.

Hi Ian,
That is very kind of you to provide details of your experiences. We are staying in Beygolu close to a station so we can easily get down to the Sultanahmet & Grand Bazaar area. My efforts to buy a Museum Pass online have been without success as the Hotel Address is too long to fit in the box space given. We will get one on our first day there.

Will pick up a Istanbulkart on arrival as it will help us get around easily. I do like my food and have been reading about
the Street Food and Restaurants. I will avoid the Green Raki sounds like having Kava that is passed around in Polynesia. My wife is a bit worried about going there, but we visited Jordan and it was great despite a bit of unrest at
the time. We are on the ground for 7 days, and hope to do the trip up the Golden Horn which is a bit long as the Eminou Terminal is closed for the Winter !.

Having got some Currency yesterday [ a beautiful day out in Canterbury as a bonus], our departure seems more imminent. Shame we have to suffer the Airport procedures.

Thanks again for your advice - Mike B
