SOTD : Saturday 26th May - Friday 1st June 2018.

With an imagination like your's who needs a view from their bathroom window ! :) P .

Ha ha P. - the second 'window fantasy' is actually based on a real experience for me. Trekking in Ladakh - stumbling out of a mountain hut to find a stream at first light to do my ablutions and get fresh water. It was a beautiful morning - I've never seen bluer skies than that at altitude - 14 to 15 thousand feet in this case. Marmots are highly vocal - they whistle and bark to each other - especially when an eagle is overhead - socially gregarious - their burrows extend for miles underground - their wee heads pop up out of holes to keep a watch on you as you pass by. Good eating but difficult to catch - the locals prize their fur highly. It was a deeply Zen experience - I was gone so long from the hut that my companion started to worry that I had been taken by a snow leopard - nonsense obviously - as they don't hunt by day. I've seen their footprints in the snow though - they must be massive. Sorry off topic - yours - I.

So nonchalant, ..... .." my companion started to worry I had been taken by a snow leopard - nonsense obviously as they don't hunt by day". ......Anyway I would have beat it off with my stick and all before breakfast! what! :D
You should write a book or become an after dinner speaker, your musings are very entertaining. ;) P.

Greetings,

Another Early start for me, after a relaxing long bank holiday weekend.

Recently each of my SOTD setups seem to go well together giving me pleasuarable shaving results,..I know traditional wet shaving is down to technique at the end of the day, but my set up today was absolutely superb, every thing worked together excellently, the 40 year + Gillette slimtwist/ W.S. Classic blade was very good & the Maca Root cream provided me with a superb slick protective lather, i know people have love/hate opinion's on it scent, which isn't the best i agree, but it's shaving performance is outstandingly good, one of my favourite shaving creams.

A very enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of ~ Denim A/S lotion.

My face is feeling smooth refreshed, & smelling devine.;)

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.

Prep ~ Valbora Gylcerlanoina soap and Shower
Razor ~ Cobra Classic
Blade ~ Schick Proline P-30
Soap ~ Cyril R Salter Tallow
Brush ~ YAQI Moka Express 26mm Badger
Bowl ~ TSR Group Buy 2016
Post ~ Vitos Tobacco aftershave
Scent ~ Guerlain - Jicky Parfum

This shave was outstanding, the Cyril R Salter soap must be the best hard tallow soap on the market at this price point, the lavender scent is very delicate but the performance is equivalent to tallow soaps costing three times as much, Valbora hard soap springs to mind.
The brush, amazing value for money and with a different name on it I could see it costing up to three times as much and it's not just the price that's superb, the brush is also.
The razor and blade combo are a match made in heaven, they work perfectly together and ive tried the other blades in this razor and for me the P-30 is by far the best, YMMY of course.
As I said at the top the shave was outstanding and very enjoyable.
A splash of Vitos Aftershave and a few dabs of Jicky Parfum and I was ready to take what the world has in store for me today! :)

Wishing you all a great day....P.

Tuesday

Pre: Shower
Razor: Merkur Progress 500 - setting 2
Blade: Derby Premium (5)
Soap: Wickham1912 - Classic 24
Post: Humphreys Witch hazel & Bulldog After Shave Balm

It was the last shave with the Derby-blade, tomorrow I'll test another brand. It is either going to be an Astra SP or a Feather blade. I haven't tried a Feather blade so far, so this would be a first.
First try of the Classic 24-scent from Wickham and I really like it. I am going to test the whole range of their shaving soap over the time. The only one that was not for me is the english rose scent so far.
Witch hazel and the Bulldog Aftershave Balm is now my favourite/ standard postshave routine. I like that a lot.

Brush: Frank Shaving 20mm Best Badger
Cream: Tri-Coastal Design Milagu Black
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (1)

I'd been looking forward to trying these blades. I was a big fan of the only other PPI blades I've used to date (Sputniks), and these seem to have a much bigger fanbase. I was not disappointed. A single pass plus touch-ups was plenty (although I did get a nick on my chin somewhere along the way). They were also unusually loud for this razor - I'm hesitant to put them in my Parker 99R in case they wake up the whole house!

The extra water-carrying capability of the badger brush improved the performance of the cream, but it will never be great.

Happy shaving, all.
