And for this day my theme was 'Cunk on Shaving'

20190203_185031.jpg

Cunk on razors - Ikon B1 SB
Cunk on blades - Feather
Cunk on brushes - Razorock Plissoft 24mm
Cunk on cream - L'Occitane Cade
Cunk on face wash - Thistle and black pepper
Cunk on aftershave care - Nivea Intensive moisturiser

Cunk on everything - Philomena Cunk

After a less than satisfactory day at work what life needed was a damn good shower and a damn fine shave.

With an unsettled mind the last thing I wanted was a battle with the straight and the recent fad I have for a hybrid shave. But a great shave was definitely on the books. Literally. With no pun intended. So what my life and face cried out for was the Ikon with a Feather. A kind of hard as nails razor meets the Angel of death in the world of blades.

I have a great respect for the Ikon and for what it can achieve. The Feather just added to the aggressive stakes. But having lived with this razor for sometime now I have faith in how to take control of this potential remover of wide grins and punisher of careless behaviour.

Not my favourite blade and not the best match to the Ikon with the two having arguments on who can do most damage. Not on this ocassion though and with the lathering abilities of the Cade and the brushing abilities of the brush one wonderful exceptionally close shave was had. One small weeper caused more by past madness from a previous shave. Nothing to write home about. So I never wrote to my wife about it.

A damn good splash with the damn fine water which comes out of the taps here in the Yorkshire Wolds and one wonderfully refreshing BBS was had. I never wrote to my wife about this one either.

Life looks up and life looks kinder. The psychological rewards of a great shave are immeasurable. I look forward to having to face the bosses in the morning and explain this mornings events. It may even include the words 'Get a shave'

So all I can say to you all is have a great week ahead and get a shave......shit, I forgot, that is what this place is all about. Enjoy and sod everything. Philomena does.

Sunday 3 February 2019: A Floris Day

PreShave: Warm water, from the tap
Cream: Floris 89
Brush: Kent BK8
Bowl: My recycled cream bowl
Razor: The Sledgehammer (Merkur 39C)
Blade Polsilver si (2)
Post Shave: Alum

Fragrance: Floris 89 deT

A nice Sunday shave—somehow the second shave with the blade always feels better (sharper and smoother) than the first, and today was no exception. A really nice BBS shave, and a good start to the day.

Have a great weekend while it lasts.

A return to my trusty DE razor tonight - Rockwell's 6c. Out of my limited experience with DE razors this is head and shoulders above my 34c, Wilkinson Sword Classic, Gillette Tech and Fatboy. Although the jury is still out, I think RazoRock's Hawk V2 SE just beats it thought....just.

I was having a trouble free shave this evening but managed to catch just below my lip during my XTG pass. One of those ones that as soon as it catches you go “Ya f****r!” As soon as I moved closer to the mirror for a look the claret flowed.

I continued and finished off, needing to call in my styptic pencil. A rather alarming tinge as the bleeding eventually stopped.

Finishing off with Xtro Mare aftershave gave another kick however not an eye watering sting.

Calming things down at the end was Bart's Balm.

A BBS finish, which was let down by my drop in concentration when I caught my chin. I'm sure it's due to 2 weeks of SE shaving. SE definitely seems easier and gets just as good, if not better, overall result.

Today's lesson - when using DEs, you can't be as lazy as when using SE.

However, a mention has to go out to TOBS Eton College cream. I won this recently in a raffle and was unsure when it arrived - it was really watery..as in I could easily pour out the contents. I'm unsure if it's got wet, has melted (?) or somehow has just broken down. I'm leaving it in the fridge for a few days to see if that helps. However it performed well this evening and I do like the traditional scent.

Anyhows, here's to a good week ahead folks! [emoji1303]

Sunday 3rd February

Pre - Soap Free Face Wash
Brush - Omega 80265
Soap - Vitos Red Coco
Razor - Yaqi OC/Cobbed
Blade - Personna Red
Post - Witch Hazel
Balm - RSC
AS - Brut Oceans

First shave in about 10 days so I had a fair amount of growth. For the first 2 passes I used the Yaqi OC head which isn't the most aggressive and left a fair amount behind so I put the blade in a slightly more efficient head, the Yaqi Cobbed which did a very good job.
