An Asian Palm Civet - Paradoxurus hermaphroditus -

Sotd - today - Monday - 8th 0f October -

Razor - Mergress (1.5)
blade - Aussie Spoiler (8)
brush - Vie Long Anniversary two-band
soap - Wickhams Super Smooth - Imperial Trevor
post - witch hazel
a/s - Old Spice - modern
balm - aloe vera gel.

Result - top end.

Nice shave - proper old school scents - depending on your age - and where you grew up in the world - soap that is a dead ringer for Imperial Leather bath soap - and the classic Old Spice to finish. Just lovely - nostalgic for me. I'm into uncharted territory with the Aussie Spoilers - I don't think I have gone beyond 6 uses with a de blade before - single edges - sure - but with double edges - even my favourite vintage Iridiums or Polsilvers - would have been tossed by this point. Absolutely so sign of degradation with the vintage Gillette blades - it is all true - thus far in my experience - what they say about them. Seemingly immortal. Very impressive. My understanding is that - in the early - to mid - seventies - there was proper innovation and competition - among blade manufacturers - until Gillette won out - and realised - why are we making blades that will last 20 shaves? - thence - onto the path of multi-blade carts - and built in obsolescence. Patents renewed. Who knows? A great shave for me. Did I see a mention of Wickhams trialing a version two of the Super Smooth formula? - I hope so. Enjoy your shaves gentlemen - yours - I.

Oh - digimonkey's lawyers would have me point out - after receiving writs from the association for the protection of civets - the A.P.C - and the civet protection league - the C.P.L - civets are not a threat to humans - quite the opposite - Sherlock Holmes was never attacked - or in deed - threatened by a civet - in any way shape or form. I'm happy to set the record straight. Hence the picture above - cute - aren't they? Ha ha ha.
Excellent write up as usual Iain, keep on bringing a smile to our faces.
Although...
...as chief coffee bean shoveller I'm glad you've listened to our (C.P.L) lawyers because, quite frankly, you couldn't handle the shit (that's my job).

Monday Shave

RazoRock Plissoft
Cyril Salter Solid Soap
Alu.General + S/S Handle
Schick Proline [ 6 ]
Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion

Though I prefer heavier AC/SEs , I am finding that since I have paired up the General with the Handle from my Claymore Shaves are getting better. I really enjoyed today as everything felt good, and the quality of finish
was quite exceptional.
In fact I have decided that this is going to be my Travel Razor, as I feel it my cope if the Hotel Bathroom lighting
is poor. I will be consider taking an Injector as back up.

Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/ L'OREAL~ Hydra Sensitive Birch Sap Shower Gel.

Pre:

warm wet flannel to my face.

Pears ~ Transparent Lemon Flower Glycerin Soap / Bloom Water.

Brush: Anbbas Boar.

Face Lather.

Soap : Scottish fine Shaving Soap.

Blade: Dorco ~ ST300.(3)

Razor: Parker 99R.

Warm wet flannel/ cold wet flannel to rinse my face.

Post:

Cold Water Face Rinse./ Homemade Lavender + Tea Tree Oil Witch Hazel Mixture./ Arko~ Comfort Cologne + A/S Balm.

Greetings,

The dorco st300 matched up really well with the parker 99r.Out of all my TTO parker razors the 99r is more efficient than the 22r, 87r & the 92r, feeling more aggressive, but still performing with comfortable smoothness.

Another very comfortable 3 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with errors to report.

The scottish fine shaving soap is one of my favourite go to soaps,it never fails to reward me with a wonderful slick protective lather, once bloomed in hot water for a few minute mins, like most of my hard soaps, then loaded up with a damp brush a superb slick protective is lather is provided and a post shave feeling that is outstandingly good, with a mild clean fragrance throughout the shave.

Finishing the shave off with a generous dollop of Arko~ Comfort A/S Balm.

My face is feeling fresh super smooth, & smelling devine.

Prep: hot shower
Pre: hot flannel
Soap: TOBS Sandalwood, bowl lathered.
Brush: MÜHLE Vivo black fibre
Razor: Merkur 23c
Blade: Polsilver (2)
Post: Nivea sensitive balm.

I'm still at the stage of experimenting what I like best, face or bowl lathering. I prefer the texture of the lather I get in a bowl, but I prefer the fragrance hit from face lathering..., hmm, decisions decisions...

Also today I went ATG for the first time with a DE. I have tended to avoid this with my multi-blade shaving due to getting ingrowers, but I think that a multi-blade razor that has 3 or more blades actually pulls the hair from below skin level, I'm guessing that the pressure you can apply with a cartridge makes matters worse, and I can't see a DE doing this, so decided to risk it.

The result was a really good smooth shave, with no redness or irritation. I still need to work out/be braver with the razor angles under the jawline, but I'm pleased with my progress so far and really enjoying the experience.

Heno de Pravia Glycerine Soap
Proraso Red Pre Shave Cream
Stirling Pumpkin Spice Soap
Omega Boar Brush
Razorine Full DE in Brass with a Gillette Rubie Plus Blade
Alum and Rinse
Witch Hazel
Kiehl's Ultimate ASB and Moisturiser
Clubman Brandy Spice AS

I will be using the Pumpkin Spice a few more times in the coming weeks. I love the scent but as it is a Halloween themed soap I can't see me reaching for it after early November when it will be stored until next year.
The Razorine as usual performed flawlessly. I could have stopped after 2 passes....but the third ensured a lovely BBS finish:)

A thoroughly enjoyable shave. Simple. Painless. Soothing. Smooth. Fresh.

I was absolutely knackered last night and just wanted a peaceful and straightforward shave.

Back to my reliable Proraso products alongside the Fatboy.

Everything was just.....good. Relaxing.

This is what DE shaving is all about!

PS - please excuse the photo. I was that tired I just pressed on with shaving and didn't take one, so it's an old photo (with the PIF Fatboy instead of my own).
