SOTD : Saturday 7th April - Friday 13th April 2018.

Greetings

Monday 9th April 2018
Prep: Shower
Razor: Muhle R41 (2013)
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharpedge (Yellow Pkt)
Brush: Thater 2 Band Fan
Cream: G.F.C.C. Caribbean Lime
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDT: Fan de Fendi Assoluta

I shall not be using these blades again, they certainly cut and shave super close but they have an unpleasant 'angry' aggressive face feel much like Feather's, IMHO all the other 7 O'Clock blades are nicer to shave with.

I'm off to Fuerteventura early Wednesday so a late evening shave tomorrow, see you in a couple of weeks.

Regards
Dick.

Hi Dick,
You must need a rest after sticking to that one DE Razor for so long.I think a lot of us get fidgety if we stick with one Razor for too long.Anyway, just hope you have a great Holiday.

Omega 11126 boar
P & B Spitfire
ATT SE1 + Windrose Handlea
Schick Proline ( 15 )
Pitralon Original A/S Lotion

After some good Injector Shaves which perhaps come too easy,I felt for today more of a challenge was required,so chose an AC/SE.I chose the ATT SE1 which works well for me and is my favourite, I passed on my Brass General and did not go for the S/S version.

An indication of how well the ATT goes for me is today's Shave.Despite the blade being on its 15th outing the Shave was not only smooth and comfortable but also nice and close all round. This seems to be for me a winning Razor/Blade combo, as other pairings seem good for a max of 9/10.

A bit of an eclectic mix today. I couldn't wait to try this new cream that arrived today. The scent is amazing. I did face lather on a 3 day growth and the 39c ploughed through it with a GSB blade.

Yaqi 2 Band Finest
Rockwell 6S
Voskhod (3)
Monsavon Bol a Rasor
Alum Block, BBA Post Shave Balm & Epsilon Blue Mediterranean

First day of my Mon-Fri use of Monsavon, seeing if I can blast through the remains of my puck. I doubt I will though. This brush is a pleasure to use and absolutely superb, I notice Yaqi has added several new brushes and razors to the site, need to show some resolve :D... Only lost a single hair during the load, superb brush and on par with Maseto.

Really enjoying the Epsilon Blue Med, lovely scent and if it is almost exact copy of Floid Blue, I can see why people loved it.

Hot towel prep
Maseto 30mm silvertip
Valobra soap
F. Herder 77 square point
A little alum and
Pinaud Clubman After shave lotion

Two passes with the Herder - cut my chin a little on the second so gave up chasing BBS and just stuck with the two, skipping the recently added ATG pass. The Valobra was a shave stick I got in a PIF from @Blademonkey and I've grated into an old TOBS tub. Seems nice but tonight was not the shave to judge it on.

Sotd - yesterday - Sunday.

Razor - Rockwell (4)
blade - Polsilver SI (2)
brush - Stirling two-band fan
soap - RazoRock Puros tallow
post - witch hazel
a/s - Vitos Tobacco
balm - Weleda
scent - ADP Mirto de Panarea edt.

Result - great - a learning experience.

Shaving two days in a row - to be honest after the stellar first use of the Rockwell I really didn't need to shave. Still visually clean shaven - I had to rub my fingers against the grain to detect any regrowth - but I couldn't resist it. Also, me and my other-half were going out to see an exhibition and a couple of drinks after - I needed to look and smell my best - she is always immaculately turned out - I wanted to reduce the probability that any casual observer would assume she was my carer or social worker. I should really buy some clothes not made by Rohan - that would help too. So - anyway - I debated using a less aggressive plate in the Rockwell - drop down to 3 if not 2 - given how little beard there was to shave. I should have. I left my face feeling a wee bit 'raw' for a while. No rash or anything visible but I could feel it. My fault - user error. I should have trusted my instinct. I'll know the next time - either way the razor is a keeper for sure. A lovely bit of kit. To paraphrase the British Prime Minster Harold McMillan - 'we've never had it so good,' with value for money brushes at the moment - be they badger, synth or whatever. Maseto obviously - I own three. Interested to read of the Yaqui two-bands. I'd put the Stirling two-band I used yesterday in the same category. Superb short fan knot and a big chunky M7 type butterscotch handle. Hasn't lost a hair in two years of use. I don't know if you can still get them. A brush - for me - never far from the top of the rotation. If you face lather - try one if you can. The poodle's privates. Job done - and something learned from the shave - as it should be - enjoy yours one and all - I.

Oh - the exhibition we went to see was 'The Journey - the Arrival,' photographs by five Greek news photographers about the experiences of Syrians escaping their country and getting to Europe to start life again. Superb - proper old-school photojournalism. Engaged, passionate, humanitarian, angry - and as one of the snappers pointed out in his text - 'because of my pictures - no one can claim that they didn't know that this was going on.' By turn distressing and uplifting. I think that it's a traveling exhibition - so if it comes to a town near you - and this is your sort of thing - I couldn't recommend it too highly.

I lost my fight with the Shark blade. Unless it's in a mild ish razor I seem to end up with decent razor burn, so switched back to Gillette 7 O'Clock SP. This was first time trying this blade in my Timeless Bronze OC, but it was a good shave, if not slightly rushed due to it being in the morning.

I definitely prefer a night shave and taking my time rather than being pressed for time!
