The proposition? Taking off without hurting myself - two full weeks growth. I looked like a goddam hippy - which I don't mind to be honest - but someone suggested it was a bit hipster - I'm not taking that -right - off to the den immediately. We'll return to hipsters later. Taking of this much growth is no time for innovation in the tools and software I thought - I've got some interesting vintage blades to try out courtesy of @TomG - but didn't think this was an appropriate first run out for them - there was only ever one razor for the job - behold - the Cobra. Possibly these blades are immortal - being not very organised - I pretty much have no idea how many times it has been used - 8 or 9 - might seem realistic - with no obvious drop off in performance. The razor took off a fortnight's growth as if it was two days. A warm snake through butter - no - that doesn't work does it? Let's move on. The supporting cast in the shave are all tried and tested products for me - they all do what they do very well indeed - in my opinion. What a mess in the basin though - had to drain the sink after the first pass - looked like someone had engaged in a foul sacrificial ritual to the Lord of the Flies with a badger - my beard these days - does a pretty good impersonation of silver tip when it grows in. Anyway - bbs in two passes - job done - enjoy your shaves one and all - cheers - I.

Oh - hipsters. I don't know what it is like in your barrio? - in mine - hipsters are breeding out of control - they have no natural predators - I have an idea about this problem and we could solve another at the same time. When the world sees sense and puts me in charge - fear not - it will be a benevolent dictatorship - wet shavers can look forward to many medals and stipends - which could be demonstrated as the most successful model of government invented by humans - over the broad sweep of history - democracy - I hear you cry - yes - invented by Solon - when his back was against the wall. So - work with me here - problem one - too many hipsters - problem two - in the UK - since the ban on fox hunting - there are packs of dogs not doing what they are bred to do. Let's legalise hunting hipsters? It might sound harsh - but - fair I think. We can keep the numbers down at least? To see them trying to run away from the hounds - in their too tight - skinny jeans - lace up leather shoes - with no socks - the wind drag from their beards slowing them down. Man bags flapping behind them - as they are hunted down. I heard ridiculously at the time of the fox ban - a pro hunt commentator saying - that the foxes enjoyed it - fair enough - so will the hipsters. Other policies I would favour - a mandatory jail sentence for anyone wearing sports clothing - that was not at that moment engaged in sport - using mobile phones on public transport - an aggravation to this would be holding the phone as if it was a communicator in Star Trek. Right - got that out my system.

He's back...... and better than ever!
Great post, Iain; tally-ho!

Every time I use this razor I wonder how it got its aggressive reputation.
It's efficient and assertive but if aggression is your bag, I'd suggest the 1924 or Streamline, I found both harder to learn than this intuitive little marvel.
Happy Shaving one and all.

RazoRock Syn. 24mm
Cyril Salter Solid soap
Mongoose B3
Schick Proline [ 1 ]
Pitralon Polar A/S Lotion

These good Shaves just keep on coming in this rotation of AC/SE Razors, I may even try the lighter
ones. So easy to get the right angle with the Mongoose, due to the head configuration. A very easy but rewarding Monday morning Shave- Smooth ,comfortable and close all round:).

Yaqi Al 24mm Tux - Truefitt and Hill Sandwalwood soap - General Steel - Schick Proline P #10 - Alum - Lacoste Original A/S - Dove Instant Hydration cream

1st outing for my new Yaqi brush. I really like this handle style and it performed really well, whipping up an excellent lather.

The result an excellent polished performance, so I'm well happy.

SOTD Monday 10 September 2018

Pre-shave: Warm shower, Wright's Cold Tar Soap and cold water splash.
Soap: Cella Crema da Barba AllOlio Di Mandorla.
Brush: Simpsons The Duke 2 Pure Badger.
Bowl: Streight from the puck :).
Razor: Karve - C: Plate.
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (Day 5).
Post: Floid Vigoroso.

I had my first run out with the Karve on Thursday 06 Sept - for me and I appreciate that YMMV, this was one of the smoothest shaves with a DE - each shave loaded with a Gillette Silver Blue.

The two run outs were a 2 pass shave - DFS + BBS - finish - no issues to report. Saturday's shave was a three pass - again no issues. I only needed a 1 pass shave on the Sunday, before going to see Simple Minds. Today, a slight hurry to get out the door, 1 pass shave and I am DFS +.

I loved today's shave, the Karve feels excellent: safe, smooth and dependable. The Cella was stunning - great protective lather in next to no time, finishing off with the Floid Vigoroso was divine - plesant tingle on the skin, no burn and great scent.

I say this with the gratest respect - the Karve is possible the best DE razor I have used - its performance is outstanding - I have not yet tried the E plate I also ordered, as the C plate leaves my skin feeling great.

The Karve could easily be a daily driver, easily.

All the best,

Chris
