soap: Palmolive not a fan of scent but with proper treatment lather is really nice

brush: Menu Pro Black 25mm, was my first synth, used a year as my only brush, rarely in action these days, robust will score about 0 on the 0 to 10 soft like a cloud-scale, bought because I liked the look of an all black fibre

razor: Dovo with Gillette Swede blade (1) not sharper or closer but maybe smoother than other blades tested

Face lather
PAL Injectomatic Golden
Schick Proline B
Thayer's Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Alt-Innsbruck EdC

A fresh Proline in the PAL made for a smooth, but seriously close shave today. This is my favourite Injector thus far; eclipsing the Schick E3.

The SMV soap, as always, provided a not overtly thick soap; but it's slickness is unparalleled in my non-tallow soap collection. Cool menthol burn of the Alt-Innsbruck and I'm good to go.

First outing for the SOC Taj Badger & Boar, whilst the knot has a way to go yet before it relaxes and opens-up, it sure did feel good on it's first outing - very promising...

If it's the same knot (that's) in the SOC 2012 SE Badger/Boar,it'll only get better.

+ 1 on the Baili BD191 & Fatip Grande..both excellent razors, The Baili BD191 pairs together wonderfully with a efficient blade choice.

Man Cave Sensitive Face Wash
JR168 tuxedo synthetic brush
Tabac Soap
Friedrich Herder 77 square point
A little alum
L'Oreal Men Expert Birch Sap Balm, and
Fine Accoutrements American Blend Aftershave Lotion

Lovely 2 passes today.
XTG then ATG to leave me with a DFS.
TTFN. LOL.

How's the aftershave? I was looking at it in Superdrug just the other day.... I've got the matching shower gel which is actually very good (I generally hate shower gels so it takes a lot for me to say that!) Also picked up their charcoal face wash which is better than I anticipated.

Indeed.

Blades and head design aside, BD191 being handle heavy is very forgiving. The Fatip is head heavy and requires slightly different technique to avoid irritation when going for a closer shave.

I plan on getting some Gillette Nacet and Astra SS for the Baili to try.

The Gillette Nacet/Baili pair together excellently..I find a non-aggressive blade pairs together well when i use my Fatip grande, non-aggressive blades work well with my efficient razors & aggressive blades, vice versa.

Essentially there are only 2 types of blades, despite the large selection and manufacturers out there. Coated and uncoated blades, that's it. Coated are smoother and become sharper after first use as the coating wears off. Voskhods are especially smooth because of the teflon coating, but Platinum is the most common, as we all know. Uncoated blades start sharp and just get more blunt with each use, thus feel sharper and harsher.

Astra SP (coated) is for daily shaving, not so rough beard, sensitive skin.
Astra SS (uncoated) is for occasional shaving with more growth to cut, rougher whisker, tough skin.
Manufacturers sell the same blade with different coatings, and they do feel and shave differently.

This used to be common knowledge for picking up blades for your needs back in the day, before the Great Cartridgepocalypse. I don't really see it mentioned very much. Everyone is (subjectively) obsessed with sharpness.
