Mon 11th June

Omega 11126
OSP Bay Rum
Ever Ready Natural Angle
Gem S/S [ 1 ]
Pitralon Polar A/S Lotion.

Normally I don't use this Razor with a fresh blade , as I generally use it after my preferred ER
options, Streamline or 1924. I have to admit that I enjoyed the Shave today as not only was it smooth and comfortable, but the finish overall was more than passable.Always have reckoned it to be a great Daily Shaver for those folk with lighter beard growth.

soap: Haslinger Ringelblumen in a container from Ikea, great soap with a rather generic scent and while 60 gram is a nice size, shape is not ideal, should really grate it but testing as is for the time being

brush: Artisan Romera, cannot remember the model name but knot is a Manchurian 26/52 two-band badger and handle is made from african blackwood, in normal room light colour is all black but facing my desk lamp it goes brownblack, a bit of a gamble shopping from Artisan Romera but picked a winner a couple of years ago with this one, knot is super nice, handle "very handmade" in a wood with real heft

razor: Klar Törnblom vintage Swedish with homemade scales in juniper wood due to ruining original scales on first cleaning after recieving razor, blade is one of my favourites, easy to hone, thin will give a very close shave but without the dry scraping knife on toast sound and feel I get from some other blades with thin grinds

I concur with your "very handmade" assessment of the Romera handles. ;)
The knots are excellent though.

In Artisan Romeras defence, African blackwood is prone to tear outs so was not going to make a fuzz about finish, though was on the fence re ordering one handle design and recieving a mix of two different designs but I believe the man can be a bit like Soup Nazi in Zeinfeld ie complain and the answer will be "No More Soup For You!"

Monday 11th June

OSP Barbershop soap
RazoRock 400
Merkur 34C HD
NOS Wilkinson Sword MadeIn England (2)
Peppermint, Lime & Lavender witch hazel
Floid Mentally Vigorous Aftershave

I've used literally hundreds of these old English made Wilkinson blades over the years and occasionaly I find that a blade doesn't perform well on the second use. This was one of those shaves, but I managed to finish my shave without more than couple of weepers.
Everything else worked as it should so I'm not really complaining.

Sotd - Saturday the 9th and today - Monday the 11th

Saturday -

Razor - Yaqi doc head on a Rockwell handle
blade - Super Iridium (2)
brush - Wee Scot LE
soap - Haslinger Sheep
post - witch hazel
a/s - Nivea 2 in 1
balm - Aloe Vera gel.

Tonight -

razor - ER 1912 British
blade - ER Corrux (no idea how many uses - they are immortal)
brush - Simpsons Chubby 1 best
soap - P&B Citra Royale
post - witch hazel
a/s - Wickams Citrus Musk
balm - none - no need.

Results - great - top end

Thought to use the Wee Scot on Saturday - the perfect antidote to my Moka fever - a lesson in scale. This one is close up - and that one is far away. If you haven't tried the Wee Scot - you really should - how something so diminutive can hold that much lather is quite beyond me. I'm not sure what it would be like for bowl lathering - I don't - so I'll probably never find out. The Wee Scot is perfect with the - unhelpfully - small Haslinger puck - scale again. A great soap - in its class - for me - it just edges MWF and Kent. So - tonight's shave - still muggy and humid - citrus ahoy. The razor - I noticed that there has been a lot of Ever Ready love about here recently - minded me I hadn't used my 1912 in a while. What a razor. It is effortless for a bbs - I have the American and British versions - the latter is slightly more aggressive for me and the better razor. I'm not sure who came up with the simile - describing the sound of it in use as like 'buttering toast,' - that is spot on - you couldn't describe it better. Rasping. Should be added to the beginner's glossary. So - job done - enjoy your shaves one and all - yours - I.

Oh - 'Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer, not a trace of doubt in my mind - I'm in love - I'm a believer - I couldn't leave her if I tried.' - nothing to do with shaving - I just happen to be listening to the Monkees at the moment. Written by Neil Diamond don't you know. Manufactured bands might seem seem like a modern invention but they are not. The Monkees did it with some class though.

Greetings,

Over this week i've had some fantastic shaves,my shave set up today really worked, the addition of the glycerin drops to the W.S.soap bowl provides a superb slickness to the lather, for each pass, leaving my skin feeling soft & hydrated with no irritation or dryness.

I've finally got round to trying out the Concord Platinum blade..The verdict?...A very sharp blade, after doing some research on them, i found out they are made in the same factory as the'Derby Extra'.Possibly the most Love/Hate DE blade ever.

But,i can honestly say i personally found the Concord blade suited to my rhino skin, very smooth, and paired together with my 39C brilliantly with no issues of tugging or pulling...Into my first year of traditional wet shaving i had a nasty bite from a "Derby Extra",'which neally put me off trad-wet shaving for good! but i carried on with endurance to over come getting the very nasty nick. The concord platinum blade is a completely different blade to the derby extra.

Thinking back now though,it was probably down to my technique, preparation and a dodgy pack of blades,..it does happen, like with any product that is mass produced..

All of my blades are hand stropped before use now,to take away any hidden or imaginary burrs from the blade edges , leaving it clean and error free..Maybe it's me been a paranoid android, but it works for me...'Once bitten, twice shy'.I now look forward to the maiden shave with the Bluebird Platinum blade, another blade from the Derby factory if it's anything like the concord platinum i'll be well pleased.

The 39C / Concord Platinum combo paired together excellently, shaving with ease...very sharp smooth, & efficient.

A very enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of 4711~ A/S Cologne.

My face is feeling smooth refreshed, & smelling devine.;)

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.
