I've only been DE shaving for about three months and I've just had my best shave yet My technique must be getting better! Pre shave with straight Argan oil (i think it works well and is a good skin conditioner?)Rockwell 6s on plate #4, Feather blade, Castle Forbes lavender soap a new Yaqi 24MM Sagrada Familia Synthetic brush and Nivea after shave balm (I think the brush is too soft so i will go back too my Omega boar one)
I'm getting hooked on this hobby!

The Rockwell razor is very forgiving and you are doing everything right anyway so you can't fail to get a good shave. Keep at it, keep enjoying it. Shave happy :) P.

Your YaqI brush will feel like velvet compared to your boar brush. Persevere with it, YaqI synthetics are excellent performers.
I predominately face lather and the soft tips make my shaves more of a luxury affair.

Thanks for the comments BM, So the Rockwell is " very forgiving" so there must be razors that are not? Why would anyone shave with these?
Some may want a challenge, or some prefer more aggressive razors but what's most important is that you are happy with what you are using and the results it is giving you, we are all different and what works for you may not be enough for someone else. I'm pleased you have found a razor that you like and may your great shaves continue . P.

Like you, I've only been DE shaving for just over 3 months. I tend to go overboard whenever I get into something so bought a few different razors. Love the DE89, not gelling with the 34C, and the Futur still scares me.

Best shaves are coming from the Slim Adjustables, or the Aristocrat. Go figure.

I'm gradually figuring out what works for me, and I can see me slimming the collection down, but it is good to compare.

I had a stunning shave this morning. Whereas I always found shaving with a cartridge razor to be a chore.

Hi John, seems like we are learning together. I have a DE89 and have got on well with it as well, I also have a '64 slim adjustable that i am struggling with, not sure if it's too many options on the dial so I keep "channel" hopping so to speak also living up to it's name I find the handle to be a bit slim and I can't get a comfortable grip on it.
I have a Fat Boy in the post so I will see how I get on with that.
How do you find the Aristocrat aggressive wise. I have the chance of buying one or an Aristocrat Junior, I would like to know the differences in the two.
Fapy.

I have two '67 Slims, one original, one a Rhodium from BackRoadsGold that I have just received, both great shavers.

However, the Aristocrat just seems to be super efficient without being aggressive, IYKWIM

Never feels like it wants to bite, unless you stupidly put pressure on as you put it to the face as you would do with a cartridge, but that is my (lack of) technique, which improves every shave.

Still playing around with different blade choices as well.

As my technique improves, I started this mornings shave with the Slim at 5, then backed off to 4 for second and third passes. I only usually do two passes, but was loving the new Stirling soap I got yesterday.
