What are you reading at the moment?

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts here. It's started off very well, great, immersive writing.
This isn't something I wouldn't usually read, but picked it up after a friend recommended it.

Thought it was a great book. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Will pick up the sequel at some point.

Mr Standfast by John Buchan.

I love all this Boys' Own stuff from the turn of the last century...thinking Buchan, Henty and possibly even Household from a little later.

Happy New Year chums!
Have you read Greenmantle by Buchan? So relevant for today with a plot about European powers manipulating Muslim militants for their own political benefit.[emoji40]

Time for a new author, seeing as I've been on a steady diet of Robin Hobb and Joe Abercrombie for my high fantasy reading.

Enjoying it so far. At least I've got further into it than I did with Mark Lawrence's relentlessly bleak and charmless Prince Of Thorns.
