What are you reading at the moment?

My wife & I are reading these two books aloud together:
The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman

The Mahābhārata: Book 1: The Book of the Beginning

Amusingly both books essentially have "self-advertising" built into them. Sterne's Tristram Shandy jokingly, but the Mahābhārata seemingly more seriously - it suggests that even reading the table of contents absolves one of past sins.

1984 is one of my all time favourite books - but always makes me feel uncomfortable.

Its certainly gripping in a horrifying way and a couple of times now I've had to stop reading and think to myself "this was published in 1949!?" So far I'm up to the point where Winston and Julia have met O'Brien at his residence, got a feeling theres a large twist coming soon...

I came to Paul Gallico via The Adventures of Hiram Holliday many years ago. If I remember rightly as a teenager from out of the "holiday bag" of second hand books for the month long dormobile trek around Europe. The whimsical fondness for humanity, the gentle comedy and the hero a true Gentle-man with honour it was irresistible. So far this hasn't disappointed.

Mrs 'Arris a post war London Char falls in Love with the idea of owning a Dior dress and sets about making the dream a reality.

Just finished Wilt (Tom Sharpe) for the third, fourth or fifth time in my life and it just gets better each time. Started 'The Wilt alternative' so I can be fully Wilted by the time I get home.

At the moment, an epub version of this French book about The Avengers, written in the 90's:

In addition, I have seasons 4 (black & white, firts appearance of Diana Rigg) and 5 (colour) on my hard disk. The 5th season is supposed to be the best.
