What made your day a crap one??

Led a data security project for eight months now, today I was told that due to a reshuffle at our board the new broom decided to cull it. Never make an accountant to be an MD, they know how much everything cost but the value of nothing.

With the experience I have of this place, next year when the new data protection laws will be in place and the regulatory knife will be on neck they will wake up and rush like a headless turkey to get somewhere. Oh I miss being a contractor. End of rant.

I usually ask the same question after travelling back from a Thomas Cook holiday. I don't expect to be treated differently from anyone else, just differently in terms of far better.
Package holidays have been whittled down to the bare minimum, the last 15 years has seen every sense of luxury or being special eroded, for the love of God they dont even crack over a bag of sweets for the descent, and yes I know cabin pressure is regulated far better than it was in the past.

How about this puzzle.

My Mondeo has keyless entry and start.

Tried opening my car door with my keyfob to find that it didn't.
Tried the spare and that didn't work either.

Thinking the keyfob battery was flat I replaced it. Still no joy.

I confirmed the battery was okay by putting it into the Mrs keyfob in her company car.

Thinking now that the cars battery is flat, or that the programming on the fob is lost due it's flat battery (unlikely)

Here's the kicker. Inside the keyfob there should be an emergency blade key to open the door. Both my fobs are empty.

My AA cover I got free with my last service ran out at the end of Feb.

I've an auto locksmith coming tomorrow. The only good news is that he didn't turn up as promised today so they offered to cut me a blade for free.
Easy if you know a good mechanic , take jump leads and either put them on the main starter feed or alt , whichever is easiest to get on, them unlock car. Simples

Thing is without being able to get in the car I couldn't get to the bonnet release catch.

It's all sorted now though. The auto locksmith picked the lock and gave me a jump start. I also got a free emergency blade cut as they didn't visit yesterday as promised.

I took the car on a long drive up the motorway to visit a friend and didn't have any problems starting it etc.

I got some spare batteries for the keyfobs from poundland which are the same size/voltage as the £7 ones from Ford.

Bit out of pocket, but it could have been worse.

No ya dont open the bonnet, the most ya do is remove the undershield. Done loads for the ambulance service, the amount that stop dont turn lights n stuff off ,come out of a patiants to find all flat( nearly put dead) and call me out to sort it. Happy ya done though

I see your point but it's not the best plan on a modern vehicle at all,
ECU's don't like voltage spikes at all hence why head lights should be on before a jump start if perminant by the manufacturer (often not now) fitting a new battery or charging the vehicle battery while not connected is much safer

Several weeks ago, I knackered my ankle fencing. It just went "click" and then searing ... well, relief all the way up my leg to my bum! Something was clearly amiss and a good, energetic twist righted it. Since then, I've been wearing a support bandage ...

... tonight, I put the support bandage on just a little too tight around my foot, up and around my ankle. Two hours of fencing, then forgot to take it off ... drove home, still didn't take it off, but drank my yogurt and milk, ate a couple of cheese sandwiches (love cheese & Branston after fencing) and went upstairs to take a shower.

Limping ...

... I got the bandage off and the worst foot cramp ever took hold! The worst!

Mrs wouldn't touch me (too sweaty ... I'll remember that :D), pain was too intense to bend or stretch my foot, but pain was too intense not to. Hot bath: no. Hot shower: no. Rolled on an old rum bottle: no. Too painful!

Finally, three hours after finishing fencing I can just about weight-bear. I'm staying up to massage on a bottle or something, because if I sleep on this it's going to be hell in the morning.

Foot cramp! Yeah, way to ruin a great evening fencing. Pah!

Had half a bottle of wine last night and today I suffered from it.
Didn't make things any better that I had a meeting with the hipsters at Google HQ here in Silicon Valley.
Ugh.

Emu Oil from Pioneer Trading ( got no connections with them ) may be worth massaging in before and after fencing or other exercise. I've been using it ever since early 1990s when the powerlifters and track boys & girls in the gymn put me onto it for an old back injury. Great stuff for muscle and ligament strains or tears. If you're talking to the wife again some of the Page Three Princesses and lipstick gloss girls used to apply a little at night to combat wrinkles.

Probably the only thing I remember from University is that a can of Coke (full fat) in the morning is a perfect hangover cure.

Had 8 cans of beer the other night. Woke in the middle of the night for a wee wee, then drank a can of Coke and went back to sleep.

Woke up 8 and felt absolutely fine.
