Wouldn't shave withouts?

Hi all,

From all of your shaving experiences, what are the products that you could not go back to shaving without? Or items that you do not rotate regularly.

I recently moved from an EJ best badger brush to a Kent BK8 Silvertip and I don't think I could ever use anything else. Wow.

My only other must have is Osma Alum block.

I've never settled to one specific pre shave, shaving cream, post shave, blade, razor etc.

I'm hoping that this thread will end up with the most highly regarded products from all and be a great place for people to find new stuff

Cheers

Whilst I haven't been into this long enough to try out vast amounts of stuff, the one constant since discovering it has been Bart's Balm. The aftershave balms come in various scents. You can get samples of any before getting a full bottle if you choose to, but its not breaking the bank to just pick a bottle and order one. Forum members get discount (see the 'Vendor offers' section). For me, unlike the balms you generally find on the supermarket shelves, Barts Balm does not leave my skin feeling greasy or itchy. It absorbs quicker than some, soothes irritation and leaves my face feeling and smelling great. Try it, you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Are you using an alum block AND witch hazel??

I am blessed/cursed with ignorance when it comes to razors, blades, brushes, just about anything goes, only trouble I have shaving is finding soaps with for me acceptable scents, not a fan of cologne scents, not a fan of strong scents, not a fan of bathroom cleaner scents, not a fan of hotel soap scents, ergo Haslinger is my favourite soap :)

Yeah that's true. I mainly use alum for the feedback post shave. It's probably been the most helpful tool in my personal experience. It highlights all areas where my technique was poor etc.

Witch hazel is a newish addition for me but it makes my face feel great, whereas alum block doesn't particularly. :)

Must haves;

Razor (preferably vintage)
Brush (preferably vintage)
Soap (preferably hard "puck") (and no, I don't "bloom" soap)

After spending time with boar brushes I have little use for badger.

Never owned alum.

Don't use pre-shave.

I occasionally use aftershave, only because someone gave me some.

:) :p
