YaQi 24mm 'Tuxedo' Synthetic

Yaqi Tuxedo is a nice brush but not my favourite as I like a more manly brush feel for shaving as in a two band finest badger or a boar compared to the supersoft girly make up brush feel of a Tuxedo. Anyone tried the all black synth knot from Yaqi? A thicker fibre would maybe give synth brush my kind of brush feel? Hoping for a Muhle Black Fibre but bigger like 24 mm or 26 mm or a Zenith Dark Synth less springy...

I've ordered the 26mm black fibre red handle brush, which should touch the British shores in ten days or so. However, I strongly suspect this black fiber knot to be the same as the Maggard one (which I had in my possession); if so, it has a little less backbone than the Tuxedo (to me), which is more suitable to my taste (the actual Yaqi's Tuxedo a wee bit too much backbone to my taste).

I think it is the same knot, which is also known as the "game changer". I have the Maggard 22mm black synthetic as well as the RazoRock 400 and they are the very same knot. They are almost as soft as the Tuxedo, but a little more "scritchy" and they also lack the Tuxedo's backbone and water retention ability. Regardless, I will take either before using any Nancy Boy badger brush. :D ;)

Anyone tried to "scientifically" define the term water retention then measure and compare results between different knots: A thesis on how differences in water retention will effect loading of brush and lathering in practice :)

I wonder what the fibre would be like if we did not get it from the make up world but had it designed and produced especially for shaving?

You could easily test that by comparing a well broken in boar brush with a good synthetic; the boar retains much more water, in my opinion. If you overload a synthetic, the water just leaks out.

Most people only overload a synthetic with too much water just once and then figure it out. They are easier to load on soaps IMO and the simple trick is to let water dribble onto the brush TURNED UPSIDE DOWN when you need more water and then move the brush quickly to your face. Works every time and quickly becomes habit. ;)

Virginia Sheng, inspired by Yaqi for sure, is starting to pay more attention to handles.

Those "colourful resin handles", are just plain disgusting, if i may say so and i wouldn't pay 1 euro to get one.

Speaking of handles. Has anyone tried the various Yaqi "barberpole" handles in bowl lathering? Are they comfortable? They seem too long and clumsy when i look at photos, otherwise there was a Yaqi clone labelled "Luxury shaving" at my local Amazon that i could have ordered (for more than double the price of Aliexpress of course).

Question to the tuxedo and plissoft owners. Which one has more "springyness"? I mean the annoying property of the fiber bouncing back like a spring? I may make a 2nd order from Yaqi and trying to figure out if it's worth to order tuxedo too, since i try to stay below the 22 EUR ceiling, cause beyond that, you risk customs fee and VAT here.

Neither has enough to be bothersome in my experience
