Youtube shavers.......

That is true, you can't tar all with the same brush, I do think that some do err on the side of caution when it comes to artisan soaps, especially if they have been given a soap or razor to review. I would trust a review done on a product someone has purchased as opposed to one which they have been given.

Another nice one that I have seen recently is Friendship Shaving.[/QUOTE
Then we are in agreement :) and thank you, I shall look out for Friendship Shaving.

Yes, I feel the same way. I think the less well known reviewers are less of a target for vendors so they have to buy their own stuff.

Huge fan @Kevy shaves and love the way he gives an entirely new meaning to the phrase 'load it like you hate it'. Most of us would be thinking 'how many shaves can I get out of this sample?'. Kevy gives no f***s and thinks along the lines of 'How many samples do I need for this shave?'

;)

I have been researching a couple of things that I'd like to buy, Ghost Town Barber soap and the Rockwel 6S razor. Kevy Shaves did a review of both products on the same video so great for me. The video was useful for the soap and I'm ready to order it, the Rockwel 6s was a gift from Rockwel though so I'm still none the wiser ; )

You can trust what Kevy says gift or not and by all accounts it's a great bit of kit. :)

Big John "the mad scientist" just posted his video review of the Rockwell 6S on YouTube. I always like hearing what he has to say. He has been absent from YouTube for some time and it is good to see him back. He also posted a very moving and personal account of his life in the last few months - he's had a tough time

Taking the topic slightly off track....

Do you prefer to know if a YouTube shaver are using products that have been gifted by manufacturers? I only tend to watch 3-4 shaving channels, and the presenters tend to be quite open if they have received the goods from others etc.... Not particularly precious about it, but this news story today made me think about gifts and impartiality.

Yes, I think I prefer to know. Some youtubers are very clear about that but that doesn't persuade me to trust their reviews . I don't watch any of them now cause all the ones I used to watch were really promoting gifts, some are worse than others but it gererally felt like sitting in front of the laptop to watch a 20 minutes ad.
My daughter works for a PR agency and she recruits youtubers to review products and they do get paid, I don't think the youtubers reviewing shaving stuff do it for money but certainly do it for the freebies which saves them money anyway.
