Well I've spent a week shaving with the Tantara Masamune razor and I didn't really want to pass it along to the next lucky person.
It is a really well made razor, the head design ensures the blade is clamped and held perfectly, so no worry about blade alignment or blade slop, perfect.
The handle has dimples all over it ensuring a good grip even when wet and soapy, I would have liked to have seen a slightly fatter handle but that's just me being fussy, the stock handle worked perfectly and was comfortable to hold in use.
The weight of the whole razor is spot on, not to heavy, not too light, just perfect along with the ballance. I found I didn't need to think where is the optimum place to hold it, it just came to hand and I knew it was right.
The cutting angle, again, it just came to hand without me trying to find it, it was almost too easy!
The shave was lovely, I used three different blades and it seems to work well with any good blade so it's not one of those blade sensitive razors, just stick your blade of choice and shave! Perfect. I used both the closed comb and the open comb and found with me shaving every day the closed comb plate was more than enough.
The heavy razor stand was good for holding the razor when in the bathroom and with its drain hole in the bottom didn't fill up with water.
I would have liked to see the same dimpling that is on the handle carried onto the stand also but again I'm just being fussy, it did its job well.
I like that it has a serial number on the underside of the bottom plates, it makes it that little bit more special and I also like that the top cap was left plain, I wouldn't have wanted to see the samurai engraving on the top cap! Perfect where it is.
It's a good looking razor that gives the Feather ASD2 a run for its money and it ( for me ) shaves a lot better than the Feather ever did!
Could this have been improved? I don't think so although I would like to see one made from brass, just because I love brass!
There is only one thing that needs looking at and that's the cleaning out the swarf in the handle which I found when cleaning and drying after first use, in with a Q Tip to dry the threaded part of the handle and I pulled up some sharp oily swarf with the QTip, one would have thought that would have been addressed before dispatch......maybe I'm just being fussy again but apart from that QC issue I can say this razor is perfect, and I'm not really into DE razors and it's because of this that I won't be buying one, if I was into my DE razors rarther than SEs I would buy one tomorrow
Thanks to
@Paul and to
@riverrun for giving me the chance to use this fab razor. Edit......I agree with riverrun as far as the box is concerned , too heavy, too chunky, too much! I thank you
