Wednesday 17th October PM
Pre-shave:- Hot shower, Nivea Sensitive Face Wash then Proraso White Pre Shave cream
Brush:- The Executive Shaving Company Medium Jock Synthetic
Soap/Cream:- Wickham's Buddha Wood soap
Razor/Blade:- Rockwell 6c (plate 4)/Gillette 7 O'clock green (1)
Post-shave:- Thayers Witch Hazel Cucumber followed by Nivea 2 Phase aftershave then Bart's Balm Amber and Moroccan Jasmine.
The Rockwell 6c has landed!
I was looking forward to this shave. The new razor arrived yesterday (thanks to
@Acer89) and I managed to remain patient by leaving my shave until this evening. As much as I enjoy this new hobby, I know the longer I leave between shaves, the better shave I get (go figure?!?).
Usual preparation and today I chose Wickham's Buddha Wood to break in the new tool. I also chose plate 4 for the razor having read reviews that this is a good place to start.
The 1st pass WTG was really smooth. I could hardly feel the blade but could hear it was working hard. The audible feedback from this razor and blade combination is awesome. A flawless pass.
Moving to XTG I felt I was applying a bit too much pressure underneath my chin and my lower neck. The result was a lovely smooth face but quite a few weepers under the chin and on one side of my neck. Nothing painful or that needed any attention.
My final ATG pass was one of the smoothest I've had in a while. The blade made a sound on the 1st stroke then was silent for the 2nd.
As I rinsed I was really pleased with how smooth my skin was. Splashing cold water on I could feel a sting and thought I had maybe overdone it with too much pressure or too aggressive a plate choice. But after some Thayers then a splash of Boots 2 Phase there was very little burn. A quick squirt of Barts Balm and I was smiling. Super smooth.
No need for any pickups or buffing. Sublime.
Things can only get better with this razor and based on this performance it's a winner!
Have a great night folks! [emoji1303]
