Tonight's shave mostly influenced by - and an antidote to - my work day - wet, cold, dark, pishy & crap weather in Glasgow. Out in it all day - oh and my main work Goretex jacket appears to be leaking from a shoulder seam. The final indignity. So if Spring refuses to turn up in west central Scotland we can recreate it in the den. Citrus shave ahoy. It's a long time - more fool me - since I last used a NSS (Nanny's Silly Soap) product - I'm pleased to note that Sharon is still making top end gear. These were the very first artisan soaps I tried - moving on in my shave journey from the more mainstream offerings - all those years ago. I enjoyed this cream very much - it ticked all the performance boxes - the scent was lovely - I could smell all the main elements in turn. Bright and uplifting - with the slight spiciness of the basil. Nice. Tallow based to boot. Check out the company website if this sounds good to you - Sharon offers several different different formulations in her range. I will be - I'd forgotten how good it is. Thanks -
@Wayne Pritchard for gifting me the soap and reminding me of NSS. So - further adventures in Rockwell land - after the last experience I did go down to the number two plate. I think for me it will be important to properly match the aggressiveness of it to the amount of beard I'm taking off. The razor was effortless tonight - mild but incredibly effective - it just seems to deal with my problem spots with ease. Intuitive in use - no fumbling for the correct angle. I was slightly surprised to find that the plates are not linear in their adjustment - i.e it isn't 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6 - they run 1/3, 2/4 and 5/6. I presume that there is a good engineering reason for this. It's still my new favourite thing. The final element that made the shave so good was the Semogue 2000 - the behemoth - it's just such fun to use. Massive - slap it around your face, you can clean up later - and it has broken in much quicker than my 1305. The bristles are splitting nicely and given the loft, it's never going to be floppy. So - job done - peaceful dolphin smooth - enjoy yours - I.
