Intrigued. Bought on your recommendation. I'm interested in the subject. Thanks - I.
The subject is new to me, but it seems a very good summary of current knowledge, written in a non academic way, so it's very accessible to non experts like me.Intrigued. Bought on your recommendation. I'm interested in the subject. Thanks - I.
Thank you, she will be pleased you thought so!That's a nice thoughtful friend you have there Paul, good stuff!
Ordered this book today on the strength of your description. I intuit that I won't be disappointed.Just find Jean-Patrick Manchette's violent, existentialist, crime novels addictive at the moment...a slice of French noir so atmospheric you can almost smell the Gitanes and taste the black coffee...nearly started smoking again!

On the Noir-ish front, I recently read the book that became the film Get Carter by Mike Hodges. It was originally called Jack's Return Home, but is now published in the same name as the film. British Noir. Engrossing from the first line, I read it in two sittings. An astonishing sense of place, unremittingly grim (up north), it pisses down constantly and the risk of secondary lung cancer is very real. The plot of the film - one of my top ten - and the book are pretty close together with a couple of fairly major differences, which I shan't point out. I couldn't recommend it too highly. The author is Ted Lewis. Cheers - I....hope you enjoy his style...
