Looking for my first straight. Any recommendations welcome.

The only one inhabe really looked at is an Edwin Jagger one, made by Dovo.

I have no clue as to what is a good make or not.

Probably best to aim a bit higher than that Robbo. Neil's had a run of dodgy EJ razors recently. I recommend you have a look at his site and see what vintage razors are on offer.
