Just my opinion for what it's worth, Trickers and Crockett & Jones make the best variety and collection of all the handmade shoes If I were looking to get another pair of shoes or boots wouldn't be looking past these two.

I have several pairs of Alfred Sargent shoes and they are very high quality footwear.

I also wear Loakes for general hacking around in the office or my Sebago loafers (though from the USA) in the Summer.

If spending well north of a grand on shoes isn't for you (I know it definitely isn't for me), check out Alfred Sargent. I have a pair of chukka boots bought a few months ago on clearance, but even considering the original price of £350ish the quality is great.

Not sure about Grenson's current stuff, but I have 2 pairs of shoes and a pair of boots, all Northampton-made, purchased a couple of years ago and I would put them up there with Church's from before the quality drop.

Having said that I visited the Grenson Shop on Liverpool St a few months ago and they had some pretty shocking "fashion" shoes that seemed very cheaply made.

If anyone disagrees with me about Church's drop in quality, I have a pair of chukkas from the late 90s and a pair of heavy brogues from 2005. They latter are still nice, and use nice leather, but the drop in build quality is noticeable.

I don't live far from Jermyn Street and have visited most if not all the shoe shops in the street, many of which carry English-made shoes exclusively. The one that stands out for me as far as quality and style is Crockett & Jones. I have a pair of black Cottesmore jodhpur boots on order from them that hopefully should be ready any day now.
