I recently bought a Tatara Masamune Razor and whilst it is damn sight safer than the Blackbird Machined I was using for a quick run around the firm jutting jaw and chiseled features, it still needed two passes and a lot of buffing to turn out a decent shave. I decided to shim it and it made a night and day difference to the quality of the shave, much closer and no buffing required. Sometimes a shim is all that is required to turn an ordinary Razor into a wow Razor.
